Summary of Position:

Fortune Fish & Gourmet is hiring in our Seafood Department! This is an exciting time to join our rapidly growing business! Responsibilities

  • Duties include sorting, butchering, cleaning, weighing, and boxing various seafood products.
  • All Fortune employees are required to wear protective safety gear and are responsible for promoting and maintaining a safe working environment.

Qualifications

  • Product and industry knowledge- fish and seafood handling preferred
  • Knife experience
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Must have a basic understanding of the English language, including the ability to follow written and/or verbal instructions.
  • Able to work with seafood, including various types of fish and shellfish.
  • Able to lift to 50 pounds repeatedly throughout the work shift.
  • Must follow all directions and adhere to work rules.
  • Must be willing and able to work with other departments in a team atmosphere.
  • Must be willing and able to work in a multi-cultural environment.
  • Prompt and reliable attendance is an essential function of this job.
  • Able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions: While performing the duties of this job, employees are regularly exposed to cool, wet, and/or humid conditions, as well as moving mechanical parts. There is exposure to raw fish in the workplace.

Minimum Requirements:

  • 2-3 years of cutting/filleter experience required.
  • Education – High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience – 2-3 years of experience use of fillet knives, food processing equipment and food safety in a fast-paced environment. Seafood experience preferred.
  • Work ethic – A demonstrated sense of urgency in meeting critical and time sensitive deadlines.
  • Language – Basic English speaking and written proficiency.
  • Environmental: Willingness to work in a cold climate of 35Âş.
