First Connect Health is seeking a highly skilled Registered Nurse First Assistant (RNFA) for an immediate 13-week contract in Santa Maria, California. Operating within a high-performing 7-suite surgical department handling 18โ€“20 cases per day, this role serves as the primary assistant to the surgeon. If you are a certified, seasoned surgical first assistant looking for highly stable 10-hour day shifts, a collaborative environment, and an elite California tax-free package, this assignment is built for you!

  • Weekly Gross: $4,062.00
  • Weekly Tax-Free Stipend: $2,478.00
  • Hourly W2 Rate: $36.00/hr
  • Overtime Rate: $54.00/hr

๐Ÿ“… SHIFT & POSITION DETAILS

  • Schedule: Day shifts, 4x10-Hours. While shift configurations are listed as 10-hour days, flexibility for variable 8-hour or 10-hour tracking is required based on scheduling flow.
  • Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours guaranteed weekly.
  • On-Call Requirements: Active rotation required. Expect 1 week of night call per week, plus two 12-hour weekend call shifts per month.
  • Call Response Time: Must live or stay within a strict 30-minute response radius when on standby.
  • Weekend Shift Requirement: None! Weekend obligations are restricted to scheduled on-call support only.
  • EMR & Charting System: Cerner.
  • Surgical Environment: 7 operating suites utilizing Philips telemetry networks. Full interdisciplinary support with 24/7 Pharmacy, Respiratory Therapy, and 24/7 Surgeon-on-call coverage.
  • Case Mix Scope: High-volume procedural tracking across Laparoscopic, Bariatrics, Orthopedics, Neurosurgery, Urology, Gynecology, and ENT surgical lines.

  • Experience: Minimum 2 years (24 months) of recent clinical experience operating in an acute care OR environment as an RNFA.
  • Licensure: Active California State Nursing License must be verified and in hand at the time of submission.
  • Certifications Required: Active Certified Perioperative Nurse (CNOR) via CCI certification, AHA BLS, and ACLS are strictly mandatory for file presentation.
  • Clinical Skills: Advanced surgical first assistant capabilities. While independent scrubbing is not required for the nurse role, it is highly preferred by the department.
  • Dress Code: Professional surgical scrubs are fully provided on-site by the hospital.
