The Role
The Experienced Stage Builder is responsible for constructing, assembling, and dismantling staging (scaffolding systems) to support shipbuilding operations. This role requires knowledge of staging materials and safety regulations to ensure safe and efficient access for all trades.
  • Build, modify, and dismantle staging systems in accordance with shipyard standards and safety regulations
  • Interpret blueprints, work packages, and staging layouts to meet job specifications
  • Ensure all scaffolding structures are secure, level, and safe for multi-trade use
  • Inspect staging components (planks, pipes, couplers, etc.) for defects prior to use
  • Work at heights and in confined spaces while maintaining strict safety compliance
  • Collaborate with supervisors, planners, and other trades to meet production schedules
  • Perform routine maintenance and adjustments to existing staging as work progresses
  • Follow all OSHA and shipyard-specific safety procedures and PPE requirements

Must Have
Candidates must able to work at extreme heights or small confined spaces. Must be able to kneel, squat, crawl, bend, stoop, and climb. Must be able to lift 40 lbs and must take and pass a respirator fit test. Must be able to work indoors/outdoors year round in all weather conditions. Must be able to work assigned shift as production needs. Must be able to pass Physical Agility Test. Must be able to take measurements or be willing to learn.
Position requires a minimum of ONE year of experience as a Stage Builder.
