Position Overview:

The 1st Shift Production Supervisor is a key leader in our plant start-up in overseeing our manufacturing operation. This position will be responsible for managing production schedules, ensuring product quality, supervising production staff, and maintaining a safe and efficient work environment.

Job Responsibilities:

Supervise Production Operations: Coordinate and supervise all activities and personnel involved in the production process, ensuring adherence to production schedules and quality standards.

Monitor Production Processes: Continuously monitor production processes to optimize productivity and minimize downtime, utilizing staffing resources, people, etc.

Quality Assurance/Sanitation: Implement and maintain quality control measures to ensure all products meet company and regulatory standards. Address any quality issues promptly and effectively. Lead team members in performing sanitation when necessary with guidance from sanitation team and quality representatives.

Staff Management: Lead and motivate production teams, including hiring, training, and performance management. Foster a positive work environment that encourages teamwork and collaboration. Create weekly schedule for production teams to optimize labor cost and manage time off requests by employees, while minimizing overtime.

Safety and Compliance: Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and company policies. Promote a culture of safety awareness and maintain a clean and organized work environment.

Inventory Management: Oversee inventory levels and raw material usage to minimize waste and ensure sufficient supply for production needs.

Reporting and Documentation: Maintain accurate production records, including daily activity reports, inventory records, and employee attendance. Prepare reports as required by management.

Continuous Improvement: Coach and lead teams to implement daily managements systems to drive performance on the line, this includes facilitating daily meeting, production reporting and championing projects to make the process more efficient.

Learning and Development: Willingness to learn new tasks including, ERP functions, MES functionality maintenance CILs, 5S, housekeeping, forklift operation, sanitation, and other tasks to execute and drive the business forward.

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:

  • Excellent leadership and decision-making skills with a proactive approach to managing production operations.
  • Familiarity with production equipment and process in the food industry. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and ERP systems.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to make decisions under pressure.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Ability to effectively communicate with employees at all levels of the organization.

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent industry specific experience.
  • 3+ years of proven leadership experience in a production or manufacturing environment in the food industry.

Work Environment:

Exposure to both the office setting and food manufacturing facility.

  • Significant amount of time working at a computer station
  • Occasional visits to various areas of the manufacturing floor
  • Must wear required PPE while in all manufacturing areas.
  • Moving parts and machinery are present in the plant.

Physical demands:

  • Frequent sitting, standing, or walking.
  • Occasional ability to lift up to 50lbs.
  • Ability to physically perform functions of repetitive motion, grasping, lifting, pulling, pushing, reaching, crouching, kneeling, stooping, balancing, and climbing.
  • Noise levels will vary, higher noise levels exist while in the plant operations areas.
