What We Offer

This is an on-call position, which means it is a part-time, hourly role. This position will work 3 - 25 hours per week. Individual hours will vary. All games take place in the evening and on weekends. The pay rate for this position is $19.80/hour and is eligible to enroll in the City and County of Denver's 457b retirement plan. This position is not eligible for other additional benefits. Oncall positions may have routine or variable work schedules.

Location

In this position you can expect to work on site at a variety of sports fields and recreation centers throughout the metro Denver area. All games take place in the evening and on weekends.

Part of the City and County of Denver's Department of Parks and Recreation, CityWide Sports offers a variety of adult sports programs across a large network of sports fields and recreation centers throughout the metro Denver area. With over 175 diverse leagues available, including coed, men's, and women's options for sports including softball, basketball, volleyball, pickleball, and kickball, there's something for everyone. Games are held on weekday evenings and weekends, providing a vibrant and flexible sports experience for participants.

Our League Specialists play an integral part in providing high-quality service to both teams and individuals of a wide range of skill levels. Our League Specialists are there before and after the games for set up and break down, are highly organized and reliable, and ensure that games run smoothly for a safe, fun experience for all participants. Specialists are not afraid to make calls, enforce rules, and diffuse game conflicts all while maintaining a positive, upbeat, and calm demeanor. In addition, our League Specialists get the perks of getting to meet and know sports enthusiasts throughout the city, all while earning additional income.

As a League Specialist with CityWide Sports, you'll play a vital role in creating a fun, fair, and dynamic atmosphere for participants. Here are some of the key duties you'll take on:

  • Set up and break down of field equipment

  • Scorekeeping and officiating

  • Managing game rosters

  • Delegating and providing work-based instruction to Adult League Assistants

  • Ensuring participant safety and enforcing program rules

  • Having fun and ensuring a fun experience for participants

  • Performing other related duties as assigned or requested

What You'll Bring

Our League Specialists are there before and after the games for set up and break down, are highly organized and reliable, and ensure that games run smoothly for a safe, fun experience for all participants. Specialists are not afraid to make calls, enforce rules, and diffuse game conflicts all while maintaining a positive, upbeat, and calm demeanor. We value a willingness to learn and a positive attitude above all.

Our ideal candidate will also have the following:

  • Current CPR/First Aid certification

  • Competitive playing experience at an intermediate level or higher

  • Instructional experience in any of the listed sports

  • Previous officiating, scorekeeping, and/or league supervision experience

  • Availability during weeknights and weekends

  • Punctuality and proactive communication ahead of all scheduled shifts

  • Willingness to work multiple sites and regions

Required Minimum Qualifications
  • Education Requirement: Graduation from high school or the possession of a GED, HiSET or TASC Certificate

  • Experience Requirement: One (1) year of experience in assisting in the operation and instruction of organized recreation activities

  • Education/Experience Equivalency: Additional appropriate education may be substituted for the minimum experience requirements

  • Licensure: Requires certification in CPR/First Aid within 6 months of hire; licenses and certifications must be kept current as a condition of employment
