Job description

Role:ย  Business Systems Analyst โ€“ Merchant Services

Location: Pittsburgh, PA/Dallas, TX

Type: W2-Contract / Full-Time

Our challenge

We are looking for a highly skilled Business Systems Analyst (BSA) with 5+ years of relevant experience in Cards, Payments, and Merchant Services domain, and extensive experience managing internal and external merchant portals. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience designing and supporting portals used by merchants and operations teams to manage transactions, fees, chargebacks, disputes, and settlements. This role requires a strong blend of domain knowledge, systems analysis, and stakeholder management.

Responsibilities:

  • Analyze business requirements and translate them into functional specifications for merchant servicing portals (both internal and external).
  • Define and enhance portal features that enable transaction tracking, fee management, chargeback handling, dispute resolution, and reporting.
  • Act as the liaison between business, technology teams, and external payment processors to ensure seamless integration and data flow across systems.
  • Design process flows, business rules, and system interactions across the merchant lifecycle, from onboarding to servicing.
  • Develop and maintain user stories, use cases, wireframes, and configuration documents.
  • Support UAT, triage production issues, and work with engineering to ensure timely delivery of portal features.
  • Ensure portals adhere to compliance, security, and regulatory requirements (e.g., PCI DSS).
  • Drive improvements to merchant self-service capabilities and reduce manual intervention for internal operations teams.

Requirements:

  • Overall 8+ years of experience with 5+ years of relevant experience as a BSA in the payments, cards, or merchant services domain.
  • Extensive experience with both internal and external merchant portals, including servicing features, dashboards, and reporting tools.
  • Solid understanding of the end-to-end transaction lifecycle, including authorization, settlement, chargebacks, disputes, and reconciliations.
  • Experience working with major payment processors (e.g., Tempus, Fiserv, TSYS, Worldpay, First Data, Adyen).
  • Strong knowledge of fee structures, merchant billing, and transaction-based pricing models.
  • Proficiency in tools such as JIRA, Confluence, Visio/Figma, and requirements documentation.
  • Experience in Agile/Scrum environments.
  • Familiarity with payment integration APIs, file-based processing, and real-time transaction systems
