The Position: 


In the Commissary: As a Prep Cook, at Fireside Catering in Burlington, you will be responsible for prepping ingredients for a wide variety of menus including high end weddings in a scratch kitchen.  


On Events: As an Event Cook, at Fireside Catering, you will assist in the preparation, cooking and plating of delicious meals for a wide variety of events with unique menus according to the event timeline for 50-200+ guests, at premier event venues including the Estate at Moraine Farm, and Crane Estate.  The ideal candidate will have a passion for cooking, a creative mindset, and excellent attention to detail. Full-time and part time hours available in a fun and fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities: 

  • Assist in the preparation of ingredients for dishes, including cutting, chopping, and measuring ingredients 
  • Follow recipes and directions to ensure that all dishes are prepared and presented consistently and to high quality standards 
  • Work as a team with other kitchen staff members efficiently and effectively 
  • Ensure that all food is prepared and presented in accordance with food safety and sanitation guidelines 
  • Maintain a clean and organized kitchen area, including proper storage and labeling of all food items  
  • Assist in the cleaning and maintenance of all kitchen equipment, including knives, cutting boards, and food processors 
  • Ensure that all food waste is minimized and disposed of properly 

Requirements: 

  • Must be able to lift 30 lbs. 
  • Experience in a professional kitchen 
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed 
  • Desire to cultivate your culinary skills; learn proper knife skills, baking, etc. 
  • Take pride in your job - We use ingredients from our own farm, The Farm at Gibbet Hill and many local vendors. 
  • Strong communication skills, ability to follow direction and ability to work in a fast paced team environment
