Job description

Job Summary The Laborer plays a key role in supporting industrial and facility service operations. This position involves physically demanding work in environments that require strict adherence to safety protocols, effective teamwork, and consistent execution of site-specific procedures. Responsibilities include maintaining cleanliness, assisting with maintenance activities, and supporting other plant operations.
Key Responsibilities
  • Shovel ash/trash build-up from under and around conveyor systems and hoppers; transport materials using wheelbarrows
  • Perform general plant clean-up, including removal of trash, debris, and waste from repair or maintenance activities
  • Clean inside hoppers and boilers (requires confined space entry)
  • Serve as Confined Space Attendant when assigned (Qualification required)
  • Perform fire watch duties during hot work or designated tasks (Qualification required)
  • Sweep, shovel, and power wash floors, buildings and work areas
  • Clean and ensure safe access to confined space entry doors for inspections and maintenance
  • Assist with painting, surface preparation, and general touch-up work
  • Dust machinery, structural components, and workspaces
  • Operate basic tools and follow site-specific safety procedures
  • Support team with additional tasks as directed by supervisors
  • Operator machinery as plant requires (Dingo, Manlift, qualifications required)

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous experience in industrial cleaning, maintenance, or facility services
  • Familiarity with confined space and fire watch procedures
  • Ability to follow instructions and communicate effectively with team members

Requirements
  • Must pass all pre-employment screenings, including verification, background check, drug test, medical evaluation, and fit test
  • Physically able to lift, push, or pull over 50 lbs
  • Able to perform tasks requiring reaching, bending, climbing, and standing for extended periods
  • Comfortable working at heights over 4 feet and in confined spaces
  • Able to work in high-temperature environments (90°F+)
  • Must wear and work in full personal protective equipment (PPE), including hard hat, safety glasses, earplugs, steel toe boots, respirator, gloves, coveralls, and safety harness
  • Must pass all pre-employment screenings, including verification, background check, drug test, medical evaluation, and fit test
