Software Test Engineer
The Opportunity:
When operators rely on Air Force mission-critical software, they expect seamless performance, reliability, and intuitive workflows. Ensuring that level of quality demands rigorous verification, disciplined test planning, and the ability to understand how software behaves in real operational environments. That's why we need you, a Test Engineer who knows how to evaluate complex software systems, validate requirements, and help deliver capabilities that directly support mission readiness.
As a Software Test Engineer on our team, you'll collaborate with developers, system engineers, and government stakeholders to validate software supporting Air Traffic Control and Landing Systems (ATCALS). You'll create test strategies and detailed procedures, trace requirements to verification methods, and execute tests that span functional, integration, regression, performance, and mission-relevant evaluation. You'll document defects, assess operational impact, and help guide improvements throughout the development lifecycle.

You Have:
  • 8+ years of experience performing software testing, systems validation, or verification activities
  • Experience analyzing and tracing software requirements, defining test methods, and establishing success criteria
  • Experience developing test plans, test cases, and detailed test procedures
  • Experience conducting functional, integration, regression, or performance testing
  • Experience using defect-tracking tools and communicating findings to development teams
  • Experience with scripting or automation
  • Ability to collaborate with engineering, cybersecurity, and government test organizations
  • Secret clearance
  • Bachelor's degree in a Computer Science, Systems Engineering, or Information Technology field

Nice If You Have:
  • Experience with Python preferred
  • Experience with automated testing frameworks or DevSecOps pipelines
  • Experience validating software in systems-of-systems or operationally representative environments
  • Experience with modeling, simulation, or mission-scenario test environments
  • Experience supporting developmental or operational test events
  • Knowledge of Air Force sustainment processes, ATCALS systems, or avionics-related software
  • Top Secret clearance
  • Master's degree in a technical field
  • Security+ or ISTQB Certification

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual's particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $99,000.00 to $225,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen's total compensation package for employees.
