  • Serve as a senior technical contributor responsible for the stability, compliance, and continuous operation of COBOL-based applications that support client implementation and ongoing maintenance.
  • Act as a trusted technical partner to internal stakeholders by troubleshooting complex system issues and guiding teams through process improvements and federally mandated changes.
  • Analyze user requirements and translate them into technical solutions using COBOL.
  • Develop, modify, and maintain COBOL programs for batch and online processing.
  • Perform debugging, troubleshooting, and resolving issues in existing COBOL applications.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including business analysts and QA testers, to deliver reliable solutions.
  • Document code changes and system processes for future reference.
  • Ensure compliance with company standards and best practices for software development.
Preferred Skills
  • Strong proficiency in COBOL programming, including experience with mainframe systems (e.g., IBM z/OS).
  • Familiarity with related technologies such as JCL, CICS, DB2, or VSAM.
  • Experience with SAS, NDM, FILE-AID, CompairX, Datamover, BlueZone
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Experience with modernization projects or migration from legacy systems.
  • Knowledge of financial or insurance industry applications.
  • Understanding of Agile or Waterfall development methodologies. General use of JIRA, Confluence
