Job description

Foreword

At its core, BasicBlock helps get truck drivers paid faster. Period. Our industry leading software and financial services allow independent truck drivers to spend less time worrying about cashflow and more time focused on the road.

Our company is one of the few workplaces where you can experience the drive and ambition of Silicon Valley alongside the friendly and hard working qualities of the Great Plains. If you join our team, we'll let you take the reins as long as you produce quality work in return. We're a focused and authentic team who puts a priority on ownership and creating an environment where everyone can do their best work.

About the Cash Application Specialist position

We're looking for a detail oriented Cash Application Specialist to join our accounting team. In this role, you will help ensure inbound payments are accurately matched, recorded, and reconciled within our systems. Your work will directly support the speed, accuracy, and reliability of our financial operations and help keep cash flowing for the trucking companies we serve. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working with numbers, solving discrepancies, and operating in a fast paced environment where precision matters.

Responsibilities:
  • Daily matching of inbound payments to outstanding invoices
  • Accurate and timely posting of those payments within our accounting and factoring systems
  • Investigating and resolving short pays, overpayments, unapplied cash, and misapplied payments
  • Communicating payment issues and exceptions to internal teams and, when appropriate, to customers
  • Partnering with collections and operations teams to clean up unapplied cash and improve match rates over time
  • Supporting senior accounting team members with additional projects and initiatives as needed
    Requirements:
    • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
    • Comfortable working with numbers and high volume transactional data
    • Self-directed, meaning you can manage your own queue and prioritize without hand-holding
    • Prior accounting, banking, finance, or payment operations experience preferred
    • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business, or related field preferred
    Location:

This is a full-time, in-office role at our Lincoln HQ. We believe the best work happens when our team is together, so this is not a remote or hybrid position. Applicants must be eligible to work in the state of Nebraska. We are not accepting applicants outside the U.S. at this time.

      Benefits:
      • Employee stock options
      • 100% employee health
      • 100% employee dental
      • 100% employee vision
      • 401(k) match
      • Complimentary caffeine (whatever your brand)
      • Weekly team lunches (on us)

BasicBlock is an equal opportunity employer.
