The Livestock Operations Associate works under general supervision to handle customer service and administrative duties supporting Livestock Department operations including Livestock Insurance policy processing, claims processing.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Livestock Policy Processing

  • Perform accurate and timely livestock insurance policy data entry/issuance.

  • Process routine to increasingly complex livestock policy and endorsement requests, working with Underwriting when appropriate.

  • Validate agent licensing using internal systems manual procedures.

  • Prepare and distribute livestock policy documentation, endorsements, certificates, and related notices to insureds, agents, and other applicable parties, following underwriting specifications.

  • Ensure all required jurisdictional notifications, disclosures, claim contact and livestock specific policy language are included and email to agent.

  • Generate livestock policy billing and premium information within the transit or mortality livestock system

  • Compile and summarize financial and policy information during management specified periods for livestock rate monitoring, commissions, reinsurance reporting, and billing analysis.

  • Organize and maintain livestock policy files in accordance with QAT and livestock documentation standards.

  • Process livestock policy renewals, required form and endorsement updates, timely delivery of renewal notices, and full compliance with regulatory guidelines.

  • Prepare and issue TORT notifications and required jurisdictional notices related to renewals, cancellations, non-renewals, and material policy changes.

  • Prepare, validate, and distribute certificates of mailing and other proof of delivery documentation in compliance with applicable livestock insurance regulatory requirements.

  • Manage and distribute emails from multiple shared/group inboxes, triaging inquiries and routing correspondence to the appropriate individual Underwriters in a timely and organized manner.

Livestock Customer Service

  • Independently deliver consistent, high quality, and cost-effective customer service by handling livestock related inquiries via phone and email, including policy status, coverage questions, endorsements, and claims support.

  • Demonstrate familiarity with livestock terminology to effectively communicate with producers, agents, and insureds.

  • Direct customers to appropriate underwriting, claims resources when needed.

  • Work closely with all Livestock Teammates to deliver Internal & External Customer Service

General Office & Operational Management

  • Effectively prioritize and manage daily workload while supporting teammates with livestock policy and questions.

  • Participate in training and onboarding of entry level specialists, including livestock line specific processes and terminology.

  • Collect, distribute, and manage mail and package deliveries, including livestock related documents.

  • Monitor office equipment and coordinate service as needed.

  • Order and manage office supplies.

  • Process incoming and outgoing mail as required on a daily basis

  • Other duties as assigned

Agency Management Support

  • Update agency management systems with new or revised contracts, licensing, and appointment information coordination through Home Office.

  • Monitor agency licensing requirements and report changes or deficiencies for corrective action.

  • Respond to sales and underwriting inquiries related to agency licensing, appointments, and eligibility for livestock programs.

  • Agency Mgmt System maintenance of all Agency/Agent information

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 2+ years of Customer Service, Operations or Insurance experience required; Livestock/Agricultural experience preferred

  • Effective Communication Skills

  • Strong Customer Service Orientation

  • Solid business skills; PC, software, keyboarding and strong data entry skills

  • Adaptable/flexible; open to change

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; writes clearly and effectively; edits work for spelling and grammar

  • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines; must be able to complete tasks with an attention to detail

  • Must be willing to work effectively independently, as well as in a team

  • Support team leader/manager on team projects

LOCATION:

Upon hire, this individual will be expected to work out of the Omaha, NE office five days a week, until successfully achieving training milestones (typically 3-6 months). Thereafter, consideration will be given to a Hybrid work arrangement with the expectation of coming into the office three days a week.

Compensation

The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:
