Job description

BillionToOne is seeking an FP&A Intern to support our Finance team over a 10-week summer engagement. This role offers a hands-on immersion into corporate financial planning and analysis-giving you real-world exposure to the modeling, reporting, and strategic thinking that powers a high-growth, publicly traded biotech. You will be trained to perform the core functions of a junior financial analyst, working directly alongside senior finance leaders on projects that directly inform company decision-making. This is a hybrid role requiring 2-3 days per week on-site at our Menlo Park, CA headquarters.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the preparation of monthly and quarterly financial reporting packages, including variance analysis comparing actuals to budget and prior periods.
  • Analyze revenue, operating expenses, and headcount data to surface actionable business insights for senior leadership.
  • Build and maintain dashboards and data visualizations to track key financial and operational metrics.
  • Conduct ad hoc financial analyses and scenario modeling to support strategic initiatives and business cases.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline and improve FP&A processes, templates, and workflows.

Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or an equivalent analytical discipline; rising juniors and seniors strongly encouraged to apply.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including financial modeling, pivot tables, and formula-driven analysis; experience with financial planning tools (e.g., Planful, Adaptive Insights, or similar) is a plus.
  • Exceptional analytical and quantitative problem-solving skills with a high attention to detail.
  • Clear and confident communicator, able to distill complex financial data into concise summaries for non-finance audiences.
  • A proactive, self-starter mindset with the ability to manage multiple workstreams in a fast-paced environment.
  • Genuine intellectual curiosity about the business-eager to understand the 'why' behind the numbers, not just the mechanics.
  • Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) or SQL is a plus but not required.

Benefits And Perks:

  • Working with a team of 'rockstars' who bring out the best in everyone
  • Open, transparent culture that includes weekly Town Hall meetings
  • The ability to indirectly or directly change the lives of hundreds of thousand patients
  • Free daily on-site lunches provided from top eateries
  • Latest and greatest hardware (laptop, lab equipment, facilities)
  • A variety of perks on campus (state of the art gym, restaurant)
  • Free on-site EV charging (compatible with all EVs, including Tesla)

At BillionToOne, we are proud to offer a combination of (1) competitive base pay, and (2) the opportunity for professional growth.

For this position, the base pay rate is $25 per hour.

BillionToOne is an equal opportunity employer. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, or disability status.
