Our client is an independent insurance agency based in Raleigh, North Carolina, that is rapidly growing.ย Our team takes an education-first approach, helping clients understand their coverage and make confident decisions about their future. Our job isn't to push a product; it's to give business owners an objective view of the marketplace, guide them through an important financial decision, and help them choose wisely.

Role Overview

We are seeking a Commercial Lines Sales Agent to join our growing sales team. In this role, you'll be the one reaching out to business owners, CEOs, CFOs, and controllers; decision-makers who don't want a pitch, they want confidence. You'll work with established businesses (3+ years in operation, minimum 5 employees) across a wide range of industries, writing accounts that typically range from $20K to $100K in premium. Your key responsibilities may include:

  • Selling Commercial Insurance to businesses using consultative sales techniques
  • Identifying prospective customers using established lead methodologies for new business
  • Counseling and advising prospects and policyholders on matters of insurance coverage that are tailored to the specific situational needs
  • Developing and maintaining business relationships
  • Making presentations to decision-makers to establish and win their business
  • Participating in various incentive programs and contests designated to drive sales and exceed production goals
  • Exceeding sales goals for volume of quality new business quoted and written within company guidelines
  • Follow all agency and Department of Insurance rules and regulations
  • Other duties assigned

Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year or equivalent experience in the insurance industry, preferred but not required.
  • Commercial insurance sales experience, preferred but not required.
  • Active North Carolina Property and Casualty License, preferred but not required.
    • Must be willing to become licensed within 90 days of hire.
  • Strong relationship building and communication skills.
  • Exceptional negotiation and persuasion abilities.
  • Self-motivated and results-oriented, with a proactive and entrepreneurial mindset.
  • Ability to prospect, follow up consistently, and manage a sales pipeline.
  • Comfortable working in person and networking within the local community.
