About the Company

A private equity-backed manufacturing company is seeking an experienced Financial Controller to join its growing finance leadership team. Reporting directly to the CFO, this is a high-impact opportunity for a hands-on leader who thrives in building strong financial controls, improving processes, and supporting strategic growth across a multi-entity organization.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the review and approval of vendor invoices, expense reports, payroll, and payment runs
  • Serve as the primary control point for ACH, wire, and check disbursements
  • Protect the business from payment fraud through strong vendor onboarding and master data governance
  • Design, document, and continuously improve finance processes across procure-to-pay, order-to-cash, payroll oversight, and month-end close
  • Own and strengthen the internal control framework, including approval matrices, segregation of duties, and payment controls
  • Oversee month-end close activities, account reconciliations, and financial reporting deliverables
  • Develop meaningful financial reports and KPIs for executive leadership
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, working capital management, external audits, tax filings, and lender reporting
  • Mentor and develop the accounting team while fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA preferred
  • 8+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience, including Controller-level experience within a manufacturing environment
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls
  • Proven experience reviewing and approving payments, payroll, and expenditures within a multi-entity or mid-sized organization
  • Demonstrated success improving finance processes and implementing scalable controls
  • Experience with ERP systems, treasury management platforms, ACH controls, and positive pay systems
  • Experience in a private equity-backed or high-growth environment is highly desirable
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills
  • Must reside within commuting distance of Kearny/Totowa, NJ or Ogden, UT and possess permanent U.S. work authorization
