Job description

Job DescriptionAltaGas is seeking a Financial Analyst to join its External Reporting team, reporting to the Senior Manager, External Reporting. The successful candidate will primarily support the preparation of AltaGas' continuous disclosure documents, including consolidated financial statements, MD&A, and the AIF. In this role, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting, while contributing to the ongoing enhancement of reporting processes and internal controls.Key Responsibilities
  • Contribute to the preparation of continuous disclosure documents, including AltaGas' consolidated financial statements, MD&A, and AIF.
  • Research and document complex accounting matters.
  • Prepare clear, concise documentation to support financial reporting and audit requirements.
  • Coordinate information requests and support quarterly and annual reporting processes.
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders and external auditors.
  • Support the enhancement and maintenance of financial reporting processes and internal controls.
  • Monitor developments in U.S. GAAP and regulatory disclosure requirements.
  • Participate in ad hoc projects and process improvement initiatives.
  • Support month-end and quarter-end close activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analysis.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • CPA designation required
  • 3-5 years of relevant accounting experience
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP
  • Experience with financial systems (e.g., JDE, Oracle, Wdesk) is an asset
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills, with a high level of attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight reporting deadline
  • Collaborative team player with the ability to work effectively across functional groups
