Job description

JELD-WEN is currently seeking a Sr. Financial Accountant to join our growing team.

External Job Description

The Senior Financial Accountant performs accounting and finance functions for several US based Window plants and functional departments.  The 'SFA' will perform accounting transactions, account analysis / reconciliations and financial close processes to ensure the accuracy, reliability and integrity of the company's books and records. 

The 'SFA' also has the responsibility to ensure consistent and effective compliance with generally accepted accounting principles, Company policies and procedures and any applicable laws and regulations.  The incumbent will also support the needs of the business by providing account analysis and required financial reports to better understand financial information that may have an impact on financial and operational performance. 

Essential duties of the Senior Financial Accountant include but are not limited to:

  • Execute daily, weekly and monthly accounting activities to ensure timely workflow and recording of all financial transactions.
  • Perform activities related to the monthly closing process for several US-based plants and functional areas.  Responsibilities include running reports, preparing journal entries, preparing accruals, account reconciliations, creating standard work and improving the accuracy and timeliness of the close process.
  • Performs processes and controls to ensure the proper valuation of inventory and accurate reporting of cost of sales.  This includes accounting and analysis related to labor and overhead costs. 
  • Day to day involvement with operations to support them as needed.
  • Extract, review, analyze and compile information from a variety of financial and non-financial systems.
  • Perform analysis and process transactions related to construction in process and other capital expenditures monthly.
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies and controls covering broad areas including data integrity, asset protection, segregation of duties, financial reporting, information systems and adherence to corporate policies (GAAP, SOX compliance, etc.).
  • Maintain effective communication between plants, finance and leadership.
  • Identify and execute opportunities for process improvement and information sharing to improve financial decision making.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.
  • Working knowledge of accounting principles and financial statements, including the relationship between the income statement, balance sheet, and cash flow statement.
  • Experience supporting accounting processes such as journal entries, account reconciliations, accruals, financial reporting, month-end close activities, or financial analysis.
  • Ability to analyze financial and operational data, identify variances or trends, and provide accurate reporting to support business decision-making.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively collaborate with operations, finance, and leadership teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills with the ability to identify and implement process improvements.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with ERP systems and financial reporting tools
  • Experience with SAP, HFM, Hyperion, OneStream, or data analytics tools
  • Understanding of internal controls, financial reporting requirements, and compliance with GAAP and SOX principles

Expected pay for this role is between $50,900.00 to $84,800.00 per year and is based on experience and qualifications.
