Position Description:

We are looking for a Senior SCADA/ I&C Professional Engineer to join our Water Team to improve infrastructure across the firm. The candidate must be a licensed PE with a bachelor's degree in civil, electrical, or adjacent engineering degrees and fifteen years or more of related experience. The candidate should have experience working with various projects that may include water/wastewater treatment plants, pump stations, sewer/ combined sewer overflow, collection and conveyance systems, distribution and transmission systems, storm water, hydrologic and hydraulic models and/or other water resource projects. The candidate must also be self-motivated, work well with others, and have excellent writing, organizational, and communication skills. A flexible hybrid-remote work schedule is available after 30 days of employment.
Typical responsibilities include:
  • Lead Wade Trim's SCADA and I&C work in across the discipline.
  • Support the design, development, installation, and startup of SCADA & PLC-based automation and control systems for water and wastewater treatment plants, pump stations, and facilities.
  • Extensive experience designing and supporting SCADA systems for water and wastewater treatment facilities.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple concurrent projects with municipal water/wastewater clients.
  • Strong coordination skills with multidisciplinary teams, contractors, and utility stakeholders.
  • Experience supporting construction administration, including RFIs, submittals, field changes, and startup.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical users.
  • Ensure designs comply with applicable codes, standards, and best practices, including ISA-101 and utility-specific HMI/SCADA standards.
  • Develop and maintain SCADA, PLC, and HMI standards for water and wastewater clients to ensure consistency, usability, and long-term maintainability.
  • Perform quality control and peer reviews for I&C and electrical design deliverables across multiple projects.
  • Support development of new SCADA products, templates, and internal tools to improve efficiency and reliability.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers and technicians.
  • Provide design reviews for I&C and electrical portions of district or firmwide projects.
  • Support construction services including submittal reviews, RFIs, field inspections, testing, startup support, and change order management.
  • Leads electrical and instrumentation and control (I&C) design specifications and drawings including one-line diagrams, electrical detail drawings, process and instrumentation drawings (P&IDs)
  • Develop and assist with electrical designs that include calculations and power distribution for mechanical equipment related to municipal water and wastewater projects
  • Experience includes general electrical power distribution and supply design, lighting and receptacle plans, mechanical equipment power plans, panel board schedules, arc flash studies, and back-up power generation design for water and wastewater treatment plants, CSO facilities and pump stations.
  • Travel to and attend client, staff and project meetings
  • Prepare permit applications
  • Assist with the preparation of cost estimates
  • Review and comment on Contractor submittals
  • Assist Project Managers
  • Manage business development/sales activities and maintain excellent client relations
  • Prepare a summary of qualifications, presentations, and proposals
  • Manage financial and technical aspects of multiple projects
  • Prepare proposals and presentations 
  • Conduct on-site inspections as needed
  • Prepare project status and other reports
  • Attend client, public, project, and staff meetings including client progress, plan review, pre-construction, etc.
  • Maintain a safe working environment
Education:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, Civil, Mechanical Engineering or related degree
 
Skills/Experience:
  • Professional Engineering License required
  • NCEES eligible preferred
  • 15+ years of related Engineering experience
