What You Will Do
The Capital Project Specialist will support the CSMC Capital Projects organization in executing a transformational strategy for incoming manufacturing equipment and facility restructuring. The Capital Project Specialist is responsible for financial management, cross-department schedule coordination, and operational turnover support to ensure seamless project delivery. The Capital Project Specialist will drive alignment across technical and operational teams. While responsibilities span multiple initiatives, this position will primarily focus on supporting F135 manufacturing growth within an active, operating module center. This position is onsite in a dynamic, production environment in Middletown, CT.
  • Manage project financials, including budgeting, eCars submissions, purchase orders, invoicing, and cost tracking.
  • Develop, maintain, and coordinate integrated project schedules across multiple departments to ensure alignment and on-time execution.
  • Oversee machine installation timelines, Facilities & Services preventive maintenance schedules, and site-level project readiness activities.
  • Monitor job site activities to ensure safe, compliant, and efficient project execution.
  • Facilitate communication and coordination among cross-functional teams, including Operations, Engineering, EHS, Maintenance, Quality, and Digital.
  • Support operational turnover activities by ensuring training, documentation, communication plans, and compliance actions are completed.
  • Identify risks, develop mitigation plans, and escalate issues that may impact project timelines or operational readiness.
  • Provide regular status reporting, metrics, and updates to leadership on project progress, financial performance, and schedule adherence.
  • Support F135 manufacturing growth initiatives within an active module center, ensuring minimal disruption to ongoing production.

  • Light travel to occasional on-site assistance at the East Hartford HFB Module Center as needed to ensure project alignment and continuity.

Qualifications You Must Have
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Finance, Project Management, or a related field and minimum of 5 years of experience in an engineering, manufacturing operations, production, project management, quality or related environment OR a Master's degree and 3 or more years of experience in an engineering, manufacturing operations, production, project management, quality or related environment
  • Demonstrated experience communicating and collaborating effectively across teams; experience working in cross-functional teams and influencing without direct authority
  • Experience creating clear project documentation, reports, presentations, and status updates for leadership
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications; experience with project management tools such as Microsoft Project
  • Understanding of Machine Tools and their functions

Qualifications We Prefer
  • Experience installing or commissioning Machine Tools
  • OSHA 30 (or higher) certification
  • Project Certifications such as PMP, FMP, CAPM, Agile
  • Experience with SAP for procurement, financials, or material transactions
  • Experience with Solumina or similar
  • Ability to read and interpret 2D/3D facility floor plans
  • Ability to read and interpret engine part prints and technical drawings
  • Familiarity with continuous improvement methodologies (such as CORE, Lean, Six Sigma)

The salary range for this role is 86,800 USD - 165,200 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
