Role Summary:
The Project Manager's primary purpose is to plan, coordinate, and execute on-site execution of OEM overhauls, legacy engine upgrades and/or supply new OEM equipment for natural gas operators both in the US and global markets. The COOPER Project Manager is a detailed resource who has knowledge and experience in managing and executing capital projects to accomplish stated company objectives. The Project Manager will utilize project management experience and technical knowledge to drive collaborative and strategic planning, project team development and proactive stakeholder engagement to maximize benefit, minimize cost, and reduce risks.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Manage project activities including budget management, schedule development and reporting in accordance with Cooper Machinery's Project Management work processes and Customer-specific contract conformance requirements:
• Manage customer interface and ensure a clear communication channel to convey execution plans, progress updates and to manage changes in scope
• Ensure development of appropriate Project Execution Plan including strategies for both the development and implementation phases of the project
• Ensure close and effective coordination with all internal stakeholder groups, including sales, engineering, sourcing, and operations
• Collaborate with the project team and functional groups to develop and implement an engineering and procurement strategy for legacy engine and compressor station projects
• Ensure Sub-contractor performance is monitored and measured against contract terms and conditions
• Manage costs and manpower to achieve stated financial objectives
• Regularly evaluate cost to accurately forecast project margins and work in cooperation with the Finance team to recognize revenue and collect cash on time
• Review, evaluate and approve all scope changes prior to implementation
• Ensure completion of project deliverables on time, on budget and within scope
• Lead the development of robust, risk managed inputs to the economic evaluation of the project, including capital cost estimate, risk, contingency and escalation
• Ensure risks are being tracked and evaluated throughout the project life cycle
• Partner with the Quality Team and other functional groups to ensure root cause analysis and corrective actions are implemented when necessary
• Work with project field team, develop field execution plans and associated strategies
• Partner with the Shop team to deliver new or repaired equipment on time that meets all contractual requirements
• Collaborate with Engineering, the Field Management Team and Operations to ensure a smooth transition through commissioning, start-up and operation
• Apply standardized project management tools, processes, and templates to develop project implementation plans, schedules, risk registries and various other project documents
• Prepare formal reports and presentations for customers and leadership team
• Ensure opportunities for improvement are identified and documented as lessons learned throughout the project life cycle
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of the company's project management tools and processes
• Maintain a high level of focus on health, safety and environment. Ensure safety within all project work
• Consistently maintain and demonstrate a high regard for personal safety, for the safety of company assets, employees, and the general public
• Other duties as assigned
Position Requirements:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or equivalent experience. College degree or education in Engineering, Finance, or Business strongly desired. Experience / Specific Knowledge: Legacy natural gas engines and compressors
• 10+ years' experience in the pipeline industry and general knowledge of industry
• Past experience working directly with customers within a Project Management or similar capacity
• A satisfactory driving record and a current, valid state driver's license
• Proficient with computer applications, including Microsoft Suite and scheduling software
• PMP certification a pluS

Physical demands
Employee must be physically capable of completing and satisfying all training requirements as stipulated by local, state or federal agencies and/or Cooper Machinery Services and customer policies, as required
• Exposure to smells and fumes associated with natural gas products
• Field activities may include walking to and amidst work and/or construction sites, working around heavy equipment, negotiating rough terrain, areas of loose rock, etc.
• Field work frequently involves getting dirty, sweaty, dusty, and hot, especially during summer months
• Travel to remote areas within a particular region may involve extended periods of driving
• Extended periods of sitting may be required for administrative activities
