Overview

Brown Advisory is seeking a highly driven and analytical professional to serve as the finance business partner for one of the firm's two business lines. This individual will report to the Head of Finance and have accountability to the business line leadership team. The position offers a unique opportunity to serve as a trusted partner to senior business leaders, help shape strategic decisions, and influence the growth trajectory of the business. This role is designed to allow for rewarding career growth and opportunities for advancement within a global, independent investment management and strategic advisory firm.

The primary duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Serve as the primary finance advisor to business line leadership, influencing decisions related to growth, investment prioritization, resource allocation, operating leverage, profitability, and financial planning.

  • Analyze complex financial and operational data to generate insights, forecast future performance, and support strategic decision-making. Anticipate logical, potential next steps from both a finance and business perspective.

  • Evaluate and support strategic investment opportunities and business cases, inclusive of building thoughtful financials models.

  • Lead financial reporting, analysis, and planning; proactively create new frameworks where gaps exist.

  • Partner with leadership to evaluate business performance drivers including asset growth, pricing, productivity, and operating leverage.

  • Draw connections across business areas through strong partnership with Finance and Accounting team members.

  • Create and contribute to impactful finance and business-centric Board and executive presentations, inclusive of thoughtful storytelling and messaging.

  • Champion the use of technology, automation, and artificial intelligence to improve decision support, forecasting, management reporting, and operational efficiency.

  • Identify trends, risks, and opportunities through data and financial analysis; propose actionable insights.

  • Support and foster a collaborative, inclusive, and knowledge-sharing environment.

  • Partner with Corporate FP&A to complete ad hoc deliverables.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Mathematics or related course of study.

  • 12 - 15+ years of progressive corporate finance, FP&A, or strategic finance experience.

  • MBA, CFA, or CPA designation is a plus.

  • Financial Services background; Wealth or Investment Management experience is preferred.

  • Excellent quantitative, analytical, data, and critical-thinking skills, coupled with sound business acumen and commercial operating judgment.

  • Advanced financial modeling skills and experience required, inclusive of leveraging artificial intelligence.

  • Ability to influence, earn trust, and partner effectively with various levels and areas of the organization, including executive management. Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and lead cross-functional projects and initiatives.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt in a fast-paced environment.

  • Strong proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint required. Familiarity with Workday and Adaptive Planning is desirable.

  • Ability to work five days a week in our Baltimore or DC office.

Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States without the need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization (e.g., H-1B , O-1, F-1 (OPT), TN, or any other non-immigrant visa classifications that require employer support or sponsorship).

MD Salary: $160-$190k. Commensurate with experience and location. Does not include bonus or long term incentive eligibility (if applicable).

DC Salary: $176-209k.Commensurate with experience and location. Does not include bonus or long term incentive eligibility (if applicable).
