Job description

THE THIRD FLOOR is the world’s leading visualization company with offices in Los Angeles and London as well as on location with productions around the world. Since 2004, the studio has helped clients visualize and maximize content by producing computer-animated blueprints, known as “previsualizations”. The Third Floor is a fun, creative company founded by artists, for artists. We work on extremely high-profile projects, while maintaining a small studio culture. The company has won multiple Emmy and VES awards for its work. Recent projects include WandaVision and Hawkeye, Wonder Woman 1984, The Mandalorian, and many more.

The Third Floor is looking for an experienced Senior Virtual Production Developer. This will be a Full-Time, Hybrid Rolein on-set and remote virtual production support. The on-set support responsibilities include delivering tools and workflows for complex technical shoots including technical previs, techvis, virtual camera and other on-set support to clients and other film units. When not on set, the VP Developer will design and develop Virtual Production tools.

Responsibilities

Occasionally support on-set or remote studio sessions with clients, including Motion Capture and Virtual Camera shoots, including operation of Virtual Camera
Drive the planning and development of production tools
Develop plugins or extensions of existing pipeline functionality for virtual production
Support the Visualization teams with exporting Art Content (Environments, Props, Animations) from Maya into Unreal Engine
Work with the art team to ensure in-engine levels are Real-time ready
Collaborate with creating workflows and tools to accelerate production
Create and debug shader and materials graphs throughout production

Essential Skills

Experience with VFX pipeline development
Experience with Virtual Production workflows (VCam, MoCap, Scanning, Simulcam)
Experience with Version Control (Git, Perforce, SCM)
Excellent knowledge of the Unreal Engine asset and animation pipelines
Knowledge of Maya Python libraries
Knowledge of Unreal performance debugging and profiling tools
Knowledge of Unreal Blueprint and gameplay system development

Desirable Skills

Familiarity with Unreal Python API
Experience with Unreal C++ Plugin Creation and Engine Compilation
Development experience with character rigging and retargeting
Development experience with Autodesk Maya 2019 or later
Experience with Qt 5.x
Familiarity with PBR material workflows and best practices
Familiarity with networking infrastructure and ability to read networking diagrams
Experience with or knowledge of on-set etiquette
