Job Title: Filler Operator

Job Description

The Filler Operator sets up, operates, and adjusts filling equipment on a fast-paced food production line to ensure products are filled, labeled, and packaged accurately and safely. This role monitors production quality, performs routine equipment checks and minor troubleshooting, and supports efficient, continuous operation while strictly following food safety and workplace safety procedures.

Responsibilities

• Operate, monitor, and adjust filling equipment to maintain proper fill levels and consistent product quality.
• Oversee production lines to ensure products meet established specifications and standards.
• Perform routine machine inspections and basic troubleshooting to identify and resolve minor equipment issues.
• Verify labels, lot codes, and packaging specifications to ensure accurate and compliant packaging.
• Clear minor jams and assist with line changeovers to support continuous production flow.
• Conduct hourly quality checks, record results accurately, and report any deviations promptly.
• Maintain production efficiency by minimizing downtime and coordinating with team members as needed.
• Communicate equipment issues clearly and promptly to maintenance personnel and supervisors.
• Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), food safety protocols, and workplace safety procedures at all times.
• Support general production and machine operation tasks as needed to meet production goals.

Essential Skills

• 2+ years of food production experience preferred.
• Experience in general production or manufacturing environments.
• Ability to operate filling machines and related production equipment.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs safely and repeatedly as required by production tasks.
• Basic math and measurement skills to verify fill levels, weights, and quantities.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy when checking labels, lot codes, and packaging.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced production environment.
• Familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and food manufacturing standards.
• Ability to follow safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work area.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience specifically as a filler operator is a plus.
• Experience operating or working around forklifts is beneficial.
• Bilingual skills, particularly the ability to communicate in Spanish, are an advantage.
• Previous experience in machine operation and machine troubleshooting within food manufacturing.
• Comfort working in a team-oriented production environment with shifting priorities.

Work Environment

This role operates within a food manufacturing facility that runs multiple shifts, including a 1st shift from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and a 3rd shift from 11:00 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. The production floor is a bit colder due to food safety and product quality requirements, and work is consistently fast-paced to meet production targets. Team members regularly interact in both English and Spanish, and supervisors are bilingual to support clear communication. You will work around filling machines, production lines, and general manufacturing equipment while following GMP and safety standards, wearing appropriate production and safety attire as required for a food processing environment.

This is a Permanent position based out of Skokie, IL.

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $19.50/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
