Job description

Under the direction of the Director of Propane, this position will be responsible for the safe installation and repair of propane tanks and tank systems for residential, commercial, and agricultural accounts. The service technician will also be responsible for performing leak test for all new accounts and any safety related issues that may occur. Documentation of all testing must be accurate and follow company guidelines. A service technician may also fill in as a delivery driver as needed, as well as other related duties as assigned.
Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Completes a daily vehicle inspection report electronically as per DOT Regulations.
  • Installs, removes, and repairs propane tanks of all sizes.
  • Performs leak tests as needed.
  • Loads bobtail safely.
  • Delivers propane to residential, commercial, and agricultural customers.
  • Completes assigned deliveries within reasonable time frame.
  • Works independently, safely, and efficiently outdoors in changing weather conditions
  • Available to work weekends, after hours and overtime as needed.

Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Must possess Class A or B commercial driver's license (CDL) with the following endorsements - Hazardous Materials, Air Brakes, Tanker, and Manual Transmission
  • TSA Clearance
  • Must be available for emergency on-call shifts.
  • Maintains a clean vehicle.
  • Ability to use iPad.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and quickly manage changing priorities.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Basic math, reading and writing skills.
  • Accurate documentation of sensitive leak testing results.
Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 2 - 5 years of propane technician experience preferred. (Will train technicians from other disciplines)
  • Basic knowledge of propane.
  • Clean driver's license/record.

Physical Requirements:
  • Operates motor vehicle/bobtail truck during the workday.
  • Operates a vehicle mounted crane.
  • Able to lift and pull heavy hoses up to 100 pounds constantly throughout the day.
