Job description

The Law Offices of Ashok K. Karmaker, P.C. is seeking an experienced, organized, and dependable Office Manager to oversee the daily administrative operations of our busy law office. Our practice focuses primarily on immigration law, including asylum, removal defense, family-based immigration, and employment-based matters.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and coordinate attorneys, paralegals, legal assistants, receptionists, and other staff
  • Monitor court dates, filing deadlines, client appointments, and staff assignments
  • Ensure that cases are handled promptly and accurately
  • Oversee client intake, telephone calls, emails, appointments, and follow-ups
  • Maintain organized electronic and physical case files
  • Manage office billing, payment records, receipts, supplies, vendors, and general administration
  • Implement and enforce office procedures, confidentiality requirements, and quality-control standards
  • Assist with hiring, training, scheduling, and evaluating staff
  • Use case-management and office systems such as Docketwise, Microsoft Office, Dropbox, and Google Calendar
  • Provide regular reports to the managing attorney regarding deadlines, workflow, staffing, and unresolved matters

Qualifications:

  • Prior office-management or supervisory experience, preferably in a law firm
  • Immigration-law experience is strongly preferred
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to supervise staff and manage multiple priorities and strict deadlines
  • Strong computer and case-management skills
  • Professional judgment and strict respect for client confidentiality
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Fluency in Bengali is a plus but not required

Compensation: Competitive and commensurate with experience. (40-50k)
