Administrative Legal Assistant

Location: Canton, GA
Employment Type: Full-Time
Reports To: Attorneys / Office Manager

Position Summary

The Administrative Legal Assistant provides administrative, clerical, and legal support to attorneys. This role is critical to ensuring efficient daily operations, maintaining organized case files, and delivering professional service to clients. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, dependable, and comfortable working in a legal environment.

Key Responsibilities

Administrative & Legal Office Support

  • Answer and route incoming phone calls professionally
  • Manage attorney calendars, schedule appointments, and coordinate meetings
  • Assist with general office organization
  • Handle incoming and outgoing mail, and email communication
  • Prepare, format, proofread, and file legal documents and correspondence
  • Organize and maintain physical and electronic client files
  • E-file pleadings and documents with Georgia courts
  • Track deadlines, court dates, and statutes of limitation
  • Assist attorneys with trial preparation and document management
  • Communicate with clients regarding scheduling, document requests, and general case updates (non-legal advice)

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent (Associate’s degree or legal studies coursework preferred)
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel)
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information
  • Attention to detail with strong proofreading skills
  • Professional demeanor and customer-service mindset

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1–3 years of administrative experience; law firm experience preferred
  • Familiarity with court e-filing systems (PeachCourt / Odyssey)
  • Knowledge of legal terminology and documents
  • Experience with case management or billing software
  • Notary Public (or willingness to become one)
