Driven to Succeed? You'll Thrive at Brown Haven Homes.

As Brown Haven scales toward 1,000+ homes a year, our finance function is scaling right along with it. The Assistant Controller is an important addition to our finance team, working directly with the Head of Finance to bring structure, rigor, and GAAP-level precision to a fast-growing homebuilding company. You'll own the monthly close, lead our external financial statement audits, and serve as a trusted technical resource as we standardize accounting policy across a multi-entity organization. This is a role for someone who wants to build strong financial processes from the ground up.

What We're Looking For:

  • Reliable and Accountable. People can count on you to follow through on what you take on.
  • You stay steady and work through any challenges as they arise.
  • Positive and Collaborative. A genuine team player who works well with finance, other departments, and outside partners, and brings encouraging energy every day.
  • You don't wait for problems to surface; you catch them early and work with the team to resolve.
  • Detail-Oriented and Organized. You thrive on precision, knowing the small things matter to the bigger picture. Every number matters because it tells the real story of how this company is doing.

Playbook for Success:

  • Lead monthly financial close. Own the close process end-to-end, driving toward faster, cleaner closes every month.
  • Lead annual financial statement audits. Work with our external audit firm, owning deliverables from planning through fieldwork to final statements.
  • Assist with annual tax preparation. Support our external CPA firm with the information and analysis needed for accurate, on-time tax filings.
  • Assist with accounting policy and technical GAAP analysis. Partner with the Head of Finance to design and implement company accounting policy and evaluate technical accounting positions affecting the financial statements.
  • Assist with monthly profit reporting. Support reporting of profit results to local offices, including budget-vs-actual analysis of operating results.
  • Assist with financial forecasting. Help build forecasts of projected revenue and profit to support company planning.

Why Brown Haven Homes?

  • Best-in-class medical, dental, and vision benefits to keep you and your family covered.
  • Life & Disability Insurance
  • 401(k) with Company Match
  • Lucrative Profit Share Program

Your Competitive Edge:

  • Relevant Experience: 2 to 3+ years of experience in homebuilding or public accounting.
