Job description

O'Hagan Meyer is looking for an organized and professional Legal Assistant to join our law firm. This individual will provide vital assistance to a team of attorneys by handling case-related tasks, preparing a variety of legal documentation, and managing case files. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, proficient in legal terminology, and understands the electronic filing procedures in State and Federal Courts. This will be full-time, in-office position with the possibility of transitioning into a hybrid work week.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive litigation support to multiple attorneys, managing heavy and complex caseloads
  • Prepare, revise, proofread, and format pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery, and correspondence in compliance with applicable court rules
  • Prepare court filings for state, federal and appellate courts, including electronic and traditional filings
  • Coordinate travel arrangements. Prepare, submit, and track travel and expense reimbursements
  • Assist with discovery and trial support, including document production, exhibit preparation, and court filings. Support scanning, photocopying, and binder preparation as needed
  • Create and maintain filing systems and databases in compliance with office policies to ensure accurate and efficient data retrieval
  • Maintain and monitor litigation calendars, including deadlines, hearings, depositions, and trial dates
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree, Paralegal Certificate or equivalent experience
  • 1-2 years of prior work experience as a legal assistant, legal secretary, or related role in litigation.
  • Familiarity with law, legal procedures, and protocols
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, Adobe Acrobat, Odyssey, Pacer and ECF Filing Systems
  • Previous iManage experience preferred but not required
  • Exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to multitask
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work independently but also as part of a team
  • Strong understanding of client confidentiality rules
