Job description

Job Summary:
Peraton is a next-generation national security company that drives missions of consequence across the globe. They are seeking an experienced Field Support Engineer to provide expert technical support and analysis, ensuring the stability and performance of systems while working closely with customers and internal teams.
Responsibilities:
• Provide expert and second-tier technical support and analysis to field engineers and technicians.
• Provide technical advice and guidance on installation, adaptation, configuration, or enhancement of technical products, programs, and systems.
• Test, train, and field support to customers regarding technical aspects of designated systems and services.
• Provide expertise for the resolution of technical problems, troubleshoot products, and modify products to customer requirements.
• Maintain network stability through advanced troubleshooting, timely resolution of incidents, and proactive maintenance to provide the maximum availability and optimal Mean Time to Repair.
• Provide training to customers.
• Partner with developers and engineers to reduce reoccurring incidents.
• Answer questions about installation, operation, configuration, customization and usage of designated systems and services.
• Review and develop technical documents.
• Travel/TDY may be required CONUS and OCONUS as required to support the customer's mission.
Qualifications:
Required:
• Active Top Secret/ Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) clearance with ability to pass and obtain a Poly clearance.
• 5 years with BS/BA; 3 years with MS/MA; 0 years with PhD
• 4 years experience can be used in lieu of a degree.
• Current CISSP or Security + Certification.
• Systems Administration of Windows Server and Operating system, Unix, or Linux and/or database skillset.
• Technical knowledge and experience with Microsoft products, including Windows Server and Operating system, Unix or Linux and databases (e.g., Windows 10/11, Server 2016/2019, RedHat 7.x/8.x/9.x Operating Systems, SQL; PowerShell, and Office; Microsoft SQL Server or SQL Server Management Studio, Active Directory.)
• General knowledge of networking.
• Possess good oral and written skills.
Preferred:
• Active TS/SCI with Poly clearance.
• Current VMware, Nutanix, or similar Certification e.g. VCP, NCP, etc.
• Strong background in server virtualization e.g. VMware, Nutanix, OpenShift, Harvester, Proxmox, MS Hyper-V, Citrix, Azure, AWS, etc.
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Experience with Terraform or Ansible.
• Experience with Dell PowerFlex.
• Experience working in a large enterprise environment.
• Knowledge of storage area networks to include network operating systems, SAN protocols, SAN management, and SAN physical configuration.
• Computing Environment compliance.
