Role Definition
The Field Superintendent leads and manages millwright crews, foremen, and general foremen to ensure safe, high-quality, and productive field execution on both large self-performed scopes and smaller projects with limited subcontractor involvement. This role is responsible for driving daily field operations, enforcing safety and quality standards, coordinating work with project leadership and subcontractors, and ensuring crews have the resources, information, and direction needed to perform efficiently. The Field Superintendent monitors progress, removes constraints, resolves field issues, and supports prefabrication and work packaging strategies that reduce onsite labor hours. They serve as the primary field-level communicator, aligning execution with project plans and client expectations while maintaining accurate documentation, reporting, and jobsite records. Through strong leadership, clear communication, and disciplined execution, the Field Superintendent supports successful, safe, and efficient project delivery. This position does require travel up to 100% or as needed, by air and ground.

FIELD LEADERSHIP & CREW MANAGEMENT
  • Lead and direct millwright crews, foremen, and general foremen to ensure safe and productive field execution.
  • Assign daily tasks, set clear expectations, and verify that crews understand work plans and priorities.
  • Mentor foremen and crews, building skill, accountability, and consistency across the team.
  • Ensure proper crew staffing, shift planning, and labor allocation to match project needs.
  • Foster a positive, respectful jobsite culture aligned with company values.

SAFETY & QUALITY CONTROL
  • Enforce all safety procedures, policies, and PPE requirements with zero compromise.
  • Conduct daily safety meetings, job safety analysis (JSAs), and routine safety inspections.
  • Identify and correct unsafe behaviors or conditions immediately.
  • Monitor installation quality and verify work meets specifications, industry standards, and client expectations.
  • Document safety and quality Observations consistently.
  • Support continuous improvement of safety and quality practices across field operations.

EXECUTION & PRODUCTIVITY
  • Drive efficient field execution, ensuring crews have the tools, equipment, materials, and information needed.
  • Monitor daily progress and productivity, adjusting work methods or resources to stay on track.
  • Resolve field issues rapidly to minimize downtime and maintain momentum.
  • Support the implementation of work packaging, prefab strategies, and Lean methods to reduce field labor hours.
  • Anticipate upcoming needs to remove constraints before they impact workflow.

COORDINATION & COMMUNICATION
  • Coordinate work with the Project Superintendent, Project Manager, General Foreman, Foreman, Prefabrication Shop, Warehouse, subcontractors, and vendors.
  • Communicate schedule priorities, site conditions, and work sequencing to all field teams.
  • Participate in daily/weekly coordination meetings to align field activities with overall project plans.
  • Interface with subcontractors to ensure their work integrates smoothly with self-performed millwright activities.
  • Serve as the field point-of-contact for technical questions, clarifications, and immediate decision-making.

DOCUMENTATION & REPORTING
  • Complete daily reports, track labor hours, equipment usage, and material consumption.
  • Document field changes, delays, constraints, and potential impacts to schedule or cost.
  • Maintain records of safety meetings, inspections, and quality checks.
  • Communicate field progress and issues to project leadership with clarity and accuracy.
  • Support as-built documentation and ensure proper turnover of field records.

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS
  • OSHA 10 and OSHA 30 Hour Construction Safety.
  • 5-10 years of construction supervisory experience
  • Bachelor's, Associates, Trade School or vocational degree in Construction Management, Engineering or related construction field is preferred, although not required.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to pass MVR.
  • Travel up to 100% or as needed, by air and ground.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly
  • Continuously requires vision, hearing, twisting, and talking.
  • Frequently requires standing, fine dexterity, sitting, and handling.
  • Must be able to ascend and descend ladders, scaffolds, stairs, and work in confined spaces and in proximity to loud equipment.
  • Must be able to position one-self to work in confined spaces such as trenches, pits, manholes, attics, and tunnels.
  • Must be able to respond quickly to sounds.
  • Must be able to move safely over uneven terrain or in confined spaces.
  • Must be able to see and respond to dangerous situations.
  • Must be able to wear personal protective gear most of the day.
  • Must be able to work in cold/hot environments and on concrete floors.
  • Occasionally requires walking, lifting, carrying, reaching, kneeling, pushing/pulling, bending, and crouching.
  • Must be able to wear safety equipment (boots, hard hats, harnesses, 2 SRLs, while climbing a ladder.
  • Continuously requires vision, hearing, twisting, and talking.
  • Must be able to traverse irregular and steep terrain.
  • Must be able to stand for extended durations.
