Job description

Do you thrive on solving complex technical problems and prefer being in the field rather than behind a desk?

We're looking for an experienced Field Service Engineer to join our team and become a critical technical resource for our customers. This is an ideal opportunity for a hands-on professional who enjoys troubleshooting industrial equipment, working independently, traveling extensively, and delivering exceptional customer support.

This is a road warrior position. If you enjoy being on the move, tackling new challenges at customer sites, and serving as the go-to technical expert in the field, we'd like to hear from you.

What You'll Do

As a Field Service Engineer, you'll be responsible for installing, troubleshooting, repairing, maintaining, and upgrading industrial equipment at customer facilities. Every day brings a new challenge, and you'll have the opportunity to work with a wide variety of equipment, applications, and customers.

You'll:

  • Travel to customer facilities to perform equipment startup, installation, troubleshooting, repair, and preventive maintenance.
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and controls-related issues.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.
  • Commission new equipment and support approved upgrades and modifications.
  • Identify root causes of equipment failures and implement corrective actions.
  • Serve as a trusted technical advisor for customers in the field.
  • Complete detailed service reports and communicate findings clearly to customers and internal teams.
  • Provide mentorship and technical guidance to field service technicians and less experienced team members.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts by sharing field observations and recommendations.

What Makes This Role Different

This is not a bench technician role and it's not a desk job.

You'll have the autonomy to manage your service calls, make technical decisions in the field, and directly impact customer success. You'll work with customers across a variety of industries while building expertise in advanced industrial equipment and systems.

Successful candidates are self-motivated, adaptable, customer-focused, and comfortable working independently in demanding industrial environments.

Travel Requirements

This position is designed for someone who enjoys being on the road.

  • Approximately 80% overnight travel to customer sites.
  • Occasional overtime and weekend work based on customer needs.
  • Company-paid travel expenses.

If you enjoy being the person customers rely on when equipment is down and production is on the line, you'll thrive in this role.

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience troubleshooting, repairing, commissioning, or maintaining industrial equipment.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience reading electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, blueprints, and technical manuals.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in the field.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Technical degree, associate degree, trade school certification, or equivalent experience in electrical, mechanical, mechatronics, automation, or related disciplines.
  • Experience with industrial controls, PLC-based equipment, sensors, motors, and automation systems.
  • Previous field service experience supporting manufacturing or industrial customers.
  • Experience training or mentoring technicians.

Why Join Us?

  • Competitive compensation.

  • PTO

  • 11 Paid Holidays

  • Health Insurance

  • 401(k) with match

  • Opportunity to work independently and make a direct impact.

  • Exposure to a wide variety of industrial equipment and applications.

  • Collaborative team environment with strong technical support.

  • The chance to become a recognized technical expert and trusted customer partner.

If you're an experienced field service professional who enjoys travel, technical problem-solving, and customer interaction, we'd love to hear from you.
