Position Summary

Enercon Industries is a mid-sized family company that makes technical equipment for various industries domestically and worldwide. Our Induction Cap Sealers and Surface Treating equipment are among the best in the world, and we pride ourselves on being the market leader and innovation driver in our field.

The Field Service Engineer at Enercon Industries provides crucial technical equipment support at customer facilities domestically and internationally while still being home on the weekends. When not traveling, this position provides 1st or 2nd line technical support to internal and external customers of Enercon. In addition, the Field Service Engineer assists with training new Technicians on inspection and testing of Enercon products in the plant before shipping. Responsibilities

  • Field Service
    • Professional interaction with the customer related to Enercon Industries.
    • Preparation prior to arriving at the customer location to increase the likelihood of success during the visit.
    • Perform start-up assistance at customer sites. Ensure Enercon guidelines are followed during installation and communicate deficiencies found and the corrective action required.
    • Diligent adherence to safety protocols while on customer premises.
    • Independent travel to customer location by most affordable and expedient method possible.
    • Thorough documentation of issues related to Enercon equipment resulting in the need for a technical visit.
    • Thorough documentation of situations observed that may result in further technical issues at the customer location related to Enercon equipment.
    • Proactively suggest spare parts to increase the UPTIME of the Enercon equipment at customer site.
    • Prepare field service reports, service billing worksheets, and expense reports, and promptly submits them to the Service Manager upon job completion.
  • Technical Support
    • Provide machine specific technical support via phone, email, and text when not traveling for Enercon service to both internal and external customers.
    • Provide training to new Enercon staff within the test/repair/service departments, and serves as technical resource for members of the sales department and lab technicians.
  • After Hours Support
    • Provide after hours support via cell phone and email on a rotational basis to help fulfill Enercon’s 24/7 service program coverage.
    • Willingness and ability to perform duties after-hours, weekends, and holidays to meet customer needs.
  • Test
    • Provide production floor support on a rotational schedule in testing Enercon machines after assembly to assure they meet our standards before shipping. Testing can involve final assembly and packaging. Most often will include electrical testing and verification of the machine.
    • Basic knowledge of equipment used for production and general manufacturing, and has the ability to work safely with and around high voltage and high power equipment.
    • Ability to utilize test equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, current probes, and demonstrates a thorough understanding of mechanical and electrical schematics and diagrams.
  • Repair
    • Perform routine inspections, maintenance, and upgrades in the Test/Repair department and laboratories to maximize efficiency and minimize issues.
    • Provide production floor support on a rotational schedule in the evaluation of customer machines sent to Enercon for repair of various issues. Involves testing and documenting findings and communicating findings to the department lead for proper quote generation to the customer for repair.
  • Troubleshooting/Support Document Development
    • Thoroughly document repair solutions found in Field, Test Areas, and phone calls to develop online library. Regularly upload solutions to online library.
  • Travel
    • Domestic and international travel regularly: Approximately 50% - 70% of the time, at late notice.
  • Able to travel internationally and possess a valid passport, driver’s license, current automobile insurance.

Basic Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree (B.S.) in Electrical Engineering OR
  • An Associate of Applied Science Degree (A.S.) in Electro-mechanical technology, Electrical Engineering Technology or Manufacturing Engineering technology.
  • Experience as a field service technician or engineer preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of equipment used for production and general manufacturing, and the ability to work safely with high-voltage and high-power equipment.
  • Ability to utilize test equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, and current probes.
  • Thorough understanding of mechanical and electrical schematics/diagrams.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work efficiently to meet deadlines.
  • Physical ability to work in a factory setting and lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Willingness and ability to work after-hours, weekends, and holidays to meet customer needs.
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness and ability to travel (approx. 50% - 70%) required; a valid passport or ability to acquire a valid passport preferred.
