Job description

Cairn Collaborative Design-Build is a residential design-build company focused on thoughtful construction, high-performance building, and exceptional craftsmanship. Our team works closely with clients and design partners to translate well-designed plans into carefully executed homes, with a strong emphasis on quality, communication, and collaboration.
We're hiring a Field Project Manager for our South Office to lead jobsite execution for residential construction projects in our South region. This role combines the responsibilities of a project manager with day-to-day jobsite leadership, ensuring projects run smoothly from mobilization through closeout. We offer competitive compensation, strong benefits, and the opportunity to work on thoughtful residential projects with a collaborative team.
What We're Looking For
In this role, you work closely with Cairn's central team, clients, and design partners throughout all phases of construction. You ensure project documentation is in place before construction begins and that work in the field stays aligned with the project's plans, schedule, and budget. You support site teams with material procurement, subcontractor coordination, and inspection scheduling to keep projects moving efficiently.
You are comfortable managing day-to-day jobsite logistics while maintaining a clear view of the overall project. You organize daily workflow, coordinate trade partners, and proactively identify challenges before they impact schedule or budget. When issues arise, you bring solutions and involve the appropriate team members to keep work progressing.
Clear communication and strong documentation are essential to your effectiveness. You maintain consistent communication with clients, design teams, subcontractors, and Cairn staff while keeping thorough daily job logs and photo documentation of key construction phases.
You take ownership of jobsite quality and safety, ensuring work meets agreed-upon building performance standards and Cairn's expectations for craftsmanship. From project mobilization through punch list and closeout, you maintain oversight of the jobsite and ensure the project is completed to the satisfaction of both the client and the company.
This role is hands-on by nature. While your primary responsibility is project leadership, Cairn Field Project Managers are comfortable stepping in to help keep work moving when needed. Whether solving logistical challenges or assisting with physical work on site, you approach problems with resourcefulness and a team-first mindset.
What We Offer
Compensation range: $125,000 - $150,000 per year, depending on experience
Platinum PPO Medical, Dental, and Vision after a successful 3-month review
Company vehicle
Paid vacation: 2 weeks after the first year, 3 weeks each subsequent year
Accumulated sick days
Monthly physical health reimbursement allowance ($150)
Paid training and continuing education
Company phone, laptop, and computer
Additional benefits may be outlined in the employee's offer letter.
Work Location & Requirements
This is a full-time position overseeing projects in Cairn's South region in Altadena, CA. The Field Project Manager spends the majority of time on active construction sites and works closely with Cairn's central team to coordinate project execution.
The role requires comfort working on active construction sites, coordinating multiple trade partners, and managing both field operations and project documentation.
We're proud to be an equal opportunity employer
We recruit, hire, train, and promote regardless of race, religion, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, ability, or background. We believe strong teams are built through diverse perspectives and experiences.
Ready to apply?
Please submit a summary of your relevant experience and why you would be a strong addition to our team. Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
We look forward to learning more about you.
