Job description


Position Description:
Designs, develops, tests, deploys, maintains, and improves customer-facing software solutions using test automation tools and frameworks, Angular.js, React.js, Node.js, and HTML. Builds, debugs, tests, and supports web applications applying server-side and mid-tier languages, frameworks, libraries, and related technologies (JavaEE, Apache Tomcat, Spring MVC/Spring Boot, SLF4j, and Maven). Performs client-side testing using frameworks and test runners (Karate, Cucumber, FitNesse, Gerkin, and Protractor). Deploys, builds, and manages container applications and Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud roll-out, using docker and AWS console. Uses business knowledge to translate the vision for divisional initiatives into business solutions by developing complex or multiple software applications and conducting studies of alternatives. Analyzes and recommends changes in project development policies, procedures, standards, and strategies to development experts and management.
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Participates in architecture design teams.
  • Defines and implements application-level architecture.
  • Develops applications on complex projects, components, and subsystems for the division.
  • Recommends development testing tools and methodologies and reviews and validates test plans.
  • Responsible for QA readiness of software deliverables.
  • Develops comprehensive documentation for multiple applications or subsystems.
  • Establishes full project life cycle plans for complex projects across multiple platforms.
  • Responsible for meeting project goals on time and on budget.
  • Advises on risk assessment and risk management strategies for projects.
  • Plans and coordinates project schedules and assignments for multiple projects.
  • Acts as a primary liaison for business units to resolve various project/technology issues.
  • Provides technology solutions to daily issues and technical evaluation estimates on technology initiatives.
  • Advises senior management on technical strategy.
  • Mentors junior team members.
  • Performs independent and complex technical and functional analysis for multiple projects supporting several divisional initiatives.
  • Develops original and creative technical solutions to on-going development efforts.

Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a closely related field (or foreign education equivalent) and five (5) years of experience as a Principal Software Engineer/Developer (or closely related occupation) developing and securing web applications and Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) in a customer-facing web application development environment.
Or, alternatively, Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a closely related field (or foreign education equivalent) and three (3) years of experience as a Principal Software Engineer/Developer (or closely related occupation) developing and securing web applications and Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) in a customer-facing web application development environment.
Skills and Knowledge:
Candidate must also possess:
  • Demonstrated Expertise ("DE") architecting, designing, and building web and public facing applications, using JavaScript frameworks -- Angular, Javascript, and HTML5; and developing Semantic HTML/HTML5 User Interfaces (UIs) to define formatting rules and responsive designs, using CSS and SCSS.F.
  • DE automating end-to-end workflows and defining and building API integrations using Jenkins, Docker, Kubernetes (EKS), AWS S3, and configuring network routes; and building, maintaining, and automating AWS infrastructure to support enterprise platforms and initiatives.
  • DE implementing, testing, and debugging highly scaled, secure Agile planning platforms services according to Agile methodologies, using Java, Message Queues (MQ), Modern API based microservice architecture, and Spring Boot; and writing PL/SQL and SQL stored procedures to interact with Relational Database Management System (RDBMS) databases.
  • DE contributing to all aspects of the Software Development Lifecycle and developing Cloud migration techniques; applying DevOps principles by performing Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) using Jenkins and administering source code repository (BitBucket, GitHub, or GitLab); and de-coding performance blocks by providing solutions or improvements for web applications and cloud deployments (in production).
