What is a Fibersim?

A Fibersim job typically involves working with Fibersim, a specialized software used for designing and manufacturing composite materials. Professionals in this role use Fibersim to create digital models, simulate material behaviors, and optimize composite structures for industries like aerospace, automotive, and marine. These jobs often require expertise in CAD software, material science, and composite engineering.

What are the typical daily responsibilities of a Fibersim specialist?

A Fibersim Specialist spends much of their day developing and validating composite part designs using Fibersim software within leading CAD environments such as CATIA or NX. Daily tasks include creating ply definitions, running manufacturability analyses, preparing detailed engineering documentation, and collaborating closely with design engineers, manufacturing teams, and project managers. You may also review and optimize designs for cost and performance, problem-solve composite layup challenges, and support product lifecycle management initiatives. The role often involves regular collaboration and communication across multidisciplinary teams, ensuring projects stay on track and meet technical objectives.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the Fibersim position?

To thrive as a Fibersim Specialist, you need a strong foundation in composite engineering, mechanical design, and proficiency with computer-aided design (CAD) tools, typically supported by a degree in engineering or a related technical discipline. Deep expertise with Siemens Fibersim software, as well as familiarity with PLM systems and CAD platforms like CATIA or NX, is crucial for modeling advanced composite structures. Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and effective communication abilities help you excel in both technical tasks and team collaboration. These competencies ensure accurate virtual prototyping, streamlined design processes, and successful integration of composite solutions in aerospace, automotive, or related industries.
