Job description

Summary: 

The Engineer will be responsible for designing and analyzing advanced structural parts for air vehicles. You will own the development cycle from concept to production, with detailed design and analysis of primary and secondary structures ensuring robust, high performance requirements are met.

Responsibilities:

  • Own development of primary and secondary aircraft structural parts and assemblies (metallic and composite) from preliminary design through prototype manufacturing 
  • Perform complex modeling and finite element analysis at the detailed component level, major assembly level, and aircraft level (analysis simulations to include strength, buckling, damage tolerance, and delamination) 
  • Apply design for manufacturing concepts to create solutions that are cost effective and easy to manufacture at rate 
  • Establish and achieve targets for cost, investment, weight, performance, and quality 
  • Coordinate engineering designs and systems with purchasing, suppliers, testing team, manufacturing team, other vehicle subsystems and functions 
  • Provide technical support and system analysis for root cause analysis of development issues 
  • Coordinate, lead and participate in design reviews 
  • Remain up-to-date in relevant new technology and products 
  • Travel as required 
  • Perform other duties as needed

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering plus 5 years relevant experience. 
  • Education with the following specialties preferred: Mechanical, Mechanical Technology, Aerospace, Automotive, Manufacturing. 
  • Experience and proficiency in 3D designing and drawing Airframe in NX CAD. 
  • Experience with analysis using FEMAP. 
  • Strong technical knowledge in core engineering principles, fundamental mechanics of composite materials, design, analysis, testing, and fabrication 
  • Deep understanding of load paths, design practices, and hand calculations to design robust structurally efficient assemblies 
  • Proven ability to design high performance structures and execute their fabrication 
  • Experience with composites and FiberSim is beneficial. 
  • Knowledge of materials, manufacturing processes, and tooling 
  • Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance
