The goal is to prioritize fiber technology for faster and more reliable connectivity in homes and businesses.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the Fiber First position, and why are they important?

To excel as a Fiber First technician, candidates typically need strong knowledge of fiber optic installation, splicing, and troubleshooting, supported by a high school diploma or equivalent, and often specialized training or certifications in fiber optics. Familiarity with tools such as optical time-domain reflectometers (OTDR), fiber fusion splicers, and various cable testing equipment is essential. Excellent problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and strong communication skills help technicians work efficiently both independently and in teams. These skills ensure the reliable installation and maintenance of fiber networks, which are crucial for delivering high-speed connectivity services.

What are some typical projects or daily tasks a Fiber First technician handles on the job?

Fiber First technicians typically spend their days installing, splicing, testing, and maintaining fiber optic cables for residential or commercial clients.
