About this Role

At Advanced Electric Systems, we are looking for experienced Fiber Technicians. In this role, you'll install, splice, test, and troubleshoot fiber optic systems in both aerial and underground environments. You'll work on critical infrastructure projects, travel frequently, and contribute to the reliability of communication networks that power modern life.

 What You'll Do

As a Fiber Technician you will:

  • Perform fusion and mechanical splicing of fiber optic cables
  • Test and troubleshoot fiber using OTDRs, power meters, and related diagnostic tools
  • Read and interpret splicing diagrams, network maps, and construction drawings
  • Install enclosures, patch panels, and other fiber components
  • Mentor and provide guidance to lessexperienced technicians on job sites
  • Maintain accurate daily logs, documentation, and test records
  • Work closely with project managers and field crews to meet schedules and quality standards
  • Follow all company safety practices and sitespecific safety requirements
  • Travel regularly for project assignments, including overnight stays
What You'll BringRequired Qualifications
  • 2-3 years of experience in fiber optic installation, splicing, and testing
  • Strong understanding of fiber types, color codes, and industry standards
  • Proficiency with OTDRs, power meters, VFLs, and related tools
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
  • Ability to work outdoors yearround, lift 50+ lbs, and work at heights or in confined spaces
  • Strong attention to detail, work ethic, and commitment to safety
Preferred Qualifications
  • OSHA 10 and CPR/First Aid certifications
  • CDL or willingness to obtain one
  • Experience in both underground and aerial fiber construction
  • Leadership experience or ability to lead small crews
  • Familiarity with GIS tools and digital job tracking platforms (iPads/tablets)
