Company Overview

The Apple Hill Farm Outpost is an extension of the working alpaca farm, Apple Hill Farm. The Outpost is located in Downtown Banner Elk.ย  We are expanding our business and needing both full time and part time help.

The Outpost carries a wide range of alpaca fiber productsโ€” socks, scarves, hats, gloves, shawls, and vests. The Fiber Arts Room is home to alpaca yarns in every color, along with high-quality knitting, crochet, and needle felting supplies.
The Apple Hill Farm Outpost also features a Local Food Marketplace, highlighting local agriculture, featuring products from Ashe County Cheese, Trosley Farm, Old Beech Mountain Farms, Old Turnpike Farm, Shipley Farms Beef, among others. We feature a variety of ready-to-eat dips, heat-and-serve pies, and specialty foods made right here in North Carolina.
Whether you're a local or a visitor, the Apple Hill Farm Outpost is a place to slow down, connect with local agriculture, and bring home something special.
The Apple Hill Farm Outpost is open from 10 am to 6 pm, daily, for the summer season!
Summary

As a Sales Associate at the Apple Hill Farm Outpost, you will play a vital role in enhancing the visitor experience by providing exceptional customer service and assisting in our retail operations. You are their connection to our local farmers.
Responsibilities

  • Provide outstanding customer service to all visitors at the store.
  • Assist customers with product selection and answer any questions they may have.
  • Operate the cash register and handle cash transactions accurately.
  • Maintain a clean and organized store environment to enhance the shopping experience.
  • Support farm tours by engaging with visitors and sharing information about our animals and operations.
  • Manage inventory levels, tag incoming inventory, restock shelves, and more to ensure product availability.
  • Collaborate with team members to create a welcoming atmosphere for all guests.
Requirements

  • Proven experience in retail sales or customer service roles.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Basic math skills for handling transactions and inventory management.
  • Ability to operate POS systems and cash registers efficiently.
  • A passion for agriculture and tourism is a plus.
