Position Summary:

Responsible for preparation and operation of automatic feeder and maintaining trailing coater.ย  In addition, will assist press operator in tandem press operations as assigned.

Job Duties:

  1. Responsible for preparation of press feed section according to sheet size involved.
  2. Assists press operator in setting up press; installing press plate, setting dampeners and rollers, filling ink fountain, fountain solution (with correct ph & conductivity) and other duties as assigned.
  3. Checks each load of plate, delivered by trucker, for correct size, job number and plate position plus general condition of plate before pushing into feeder.
  4. Lines load up for proper continuous feeding and adjusts double sheet ejector.
  5. Must be constantly alert, during run, for correct feeder operation to catch damaged sheets and prevent jams or passage to press which may damage blanket, press plates & ย press cylinders.
  6. Responsible for inserting sheet holding forks near end of each load for continuous feeding operation between loads.
  7. Assists press operator, during run, in mixing inks, washing press plate and blanket, etc., and other duties as assigned.
  8. Responsible for complete press operation during temporary absence of press operator.ย  This is done under supervision of press operator.
  9. Does miscellaneous oiling of press and feeder as directed. Responsible for washup of press during color changes, etc., and at end of day/shift/week.
  10. Maintains accurate day log card and order work copies with operation performed, sheet count, spoilage.
  11. May be occasionally required to hand pile sheets on feeder skid as assigned.
  12. Is responsible for setting up trailing coater and maintaining film weight, viscosity and coverage during run.
  13. Changes composition coating roller, when necessary.ย  Is responsible for proper wash up of coating machine between material changes and at end of day/shift/week as to allow for easy start up.

Requirements:

  1. Must be able to pass the Farnsworth Munsel 100 Hue Test.
  2. Must be able to use and read basic measuring equipment.
  3. Must be able to read and comprehend work order and layout specifications.
  4. Must have knowledge of coating materials
  5. High school diploma, GED equivalency, or vocational certificate required.
  6. Work with ports or material, which could weigh up to approximately 60 lbs.
  7. Position requires standing most of the time.
