Job description

@Orchard LLC is seeking an experienced Project Manager to support complex modeling and cloud activities for the NOAA National Ocean Service (NOS) program. The ideal candidate will have experience leading scientific projects in the areas of mapping, modeling, marine science, and/or environmental science. This position is contingent upon contract award.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead all project management activities for the group, including tracking, milestones, and resource management.
  • Organize and track budget information for all funded modeling projects within a centralized project board.
  • Provide annual budget recommendations and funding strategies to the leadership.
  • Support the transition of partner models from development environments into formal operations according to established schedules.
  • Coordinate access to cloud computing sandboxes to facilitate collaborative model development and testing between federal and non-federal partners.
  • Maintain and update a comprehensive inventory of all active models.
  • Facilitate the annual funding process between internal programs and external partners, ensuring all project documentation is collected and stored securely.

Requirements
Required Skills & Experience:
  • Master's degree in a scientific or engineering field (Oceanography, Marine Science, Hydrology, Environmental Science or similar).
  • 3-5 years of professional experience leading scientific/marine/environmental observation projects.
  • Familiarity with NOAA programs is required. Prefer experience supporting mapping, modeling, marine science and environmental data collection projects.
  • Proficiency with open-source tools such as GitHub.
