Each and every role throughout our organization makes a difference in our ability to change the world for the better. Read further to learn how you could help make great things possible not only in your community, but around the world.
We believe professional services provide more than systems, structures, and infrastructure; it's about powering progress and enabling innovation. As part of HDR's Federal Business Group (FBG), you'll help design the critical infrastructure that supports the digital age and shapes the spaces where people work, maintain, train, deploy, thrive, and engage in meaningful services for our Federal Government. From high-performance command and control facilities to education and training centers, your work will directly support design, construction support, resiliency, planning, asset management, program management and thought leadership directly engaged with a myriad of federal agencies.
We solve complex challenges with precision, creativity, and collaboration. This isn't just a job, it's a chance to lead innovation, architecture and engineering impacts, and build a legacy of excellence.
The Federal Business Group Technology Director will work as part of our Professional Services and Delivery leadership team, with the primary function of driving a strategic vision and leading a team of experts in the implementation of technology solutions across the multidisciplinary consulting practice.
In this role, you will collaborate closely with Federal leadership across all 6 Business Groups, Corporate Technology, operational leadership, technology leaders from throughout the organization, vendors, and other stakeholders to identify, evaluate, and deploy technology initiatives that enhance project execution, efficiency, and innovation.
This position reports to the Professional Services and Delivery Director, and success is measured by the development of effective technology solutions for consulting and project delivery, talent-oriented growth, fostering a technology-focused community of practice, shaping long-term strategic plans, leveraging technology as a market differentiator, and positioning HDR as an industry leader.
Primary Responsibilities:

- Drive technology innovation that supports Federal professional services delivery: Champion innovation that enhances Federal program performance, resilience, security, and compliance, such as digital twins, advanced analytics, automation, and secure cloud adoption.
- Represent the FBG in enterprise technology planning: In addition to delivery platforms, represent Federal program requirements, elaborate technology solution business cases, security, accreditation, data sovereignty, FedRAMP, and CUI handling, ensuring enterprise technology decisions support Federal delivery constraints.
- Active membership and participation in the HDR Technology Leadership Team (TLT): Attend TLT meetings, actively participate in, and collaborate across the group to represent the FBG in enterprise technology leadership forums, develop innovative industry leading solutions, optimize technology return on investment, and drive technology adoption, automation, AI/ML, and business system advancement across HDR.
- Develop and align technology visions and roadmaps for Federal Market Sectors and Delivery Teams: Create and maintain a FBG Technology Strategy and technology implementation roadmaps that reflect Federal priorities such as digital transformation, infrastructure modernization, resilience, and mission critical system performance.
- Partner with Corporate Technology to ensure Federal compliant platforms and investments: Ensure enterprise platforms meet Federal standards (e.g., NIST, FedRAMP, RMF, CUI, Classified) and support secure collaboration, modeling, analytics, and digital delivery for Federal clients.
- Standardize workflows and delivery practices for Federal programs: Develop consistent, compliant approaches for digital delivery, modeling, data management, and documentation that align with Federal requirements and agency specific standards.
- Lead evaluation and adoption of shared technology solutions for Federal delivery: Guide selection of tools for secure digital delivery, AI/ML, automation, optimization, and visualization that meet Federal cybersecurity and accreditation requirements.
- Lead evaluation and adoption of emerging technology solutions such as AI/ML for Federal delivery across all Business Groups: Guide the evaluation, piloting, and selection of AI/ML tools, including QA/QC tools, that drive efficiency, productivity, fees, QC checking, opportunities, while effectively managing risk. Coordinate with project teams and clients to develop innovative industry leading solutions.
- Lead FBG proposals for investment in technology: Collaborate with FBG leadership, across Business Groups, Federal Project Managers, and others to develop proposals for investment in technology that drive innovative and industry leading solutions, enhance quality, and improve productivity.
- Define technology capability requirements necessary to support Federal programs: Coordinate with Corporate IT to secure high performance compute capabilities, modeling tools, secure cloud environments, and enterprise licensing to support Federal workloads and data protections.
- Participate in technology governance with a Federal compliance lens: Support policy development, software validation, lifecycle management, and configuration control aligned with Federal standards (NIST SP 800 53, RMF, and agency specific requirements).
- Enable collaboration and knowledge sharing across all Business Groups: Connect Federal focused teams to share lessons learned, promote reusable solutions, secure workflows, and drive adoption of best practices across DoD, Civilian, and Intelligence sectors.
