POSITION SUMMARY

The Van Driver is supervised by the Director of Custom Cleaning / Fleet Maintenance and provides support to the FDR contract and other departments within Business Services as needed. Primary responsibilities are in the Transportation Department. Provide safe, reliable transportation for staff between designated locations, including the main site (JCC), the FDR Library, and employee residences.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Transportation

  1. Transport staff to and from the FDR Library at the beginning and end of shifts, as well as ensuring timely transportation between employee residences and the FDR Library in accordance with scheduled work hours.
  2. Report vehicle maintenance and repair issues to Director of Custom Cleaning / Fleet Maintenance.
  3. Operate agency vehicles safely in compliance with New York State Motor Vehicle and traffic laws and agency vehicle operation policies.
  4. Report accidents to Supervisor.
  5. Perform daily maintenance check on assigned vehicle and log into the Pre-Trip Inspection Form.
  6. Maintain all vehicle and passenger logs.

Facilities Maintenance

Custom Cleaning

  1. Transport night shift staff to/from the FDR Library as needed.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience: 

  • One (1) year of driving experience

Licenses / Certifications:

  • Valid NYS Driver’s License with a safe driving record

PREFFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; handle, reach with hands and arms. This position may require the employee to bend, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl, or climb. The position requires frequent lifting up to 50 pounds.

REGULATORY CLEARANCES REQUIRED:

  • Must have a valid NYS Driver’s License.
  • Background checks are required.
