Pay: $120,000-165,000 + bonus program

Position Objective:

The E-Commerce Business Development Manager will lead the digital commerce strategy for our portfolio of consumer and contractor products, driving growth across D2C, retail partner platforms, and marketplaces.  This role is pivotal in shaping how our brands engage with consumers online, leveraging data, technology, and innovation to deliver seamless, personalized customer experiences and accelerate revenue growth and profitability.

Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive eCommerce strategy across owned (D2C) and third-party platforms (Amazon, Walmart, Target, Home Depot, Lowe’s, etc.) for our Home Finishing and Professional Finishing businesses.
  • Partner with Contractor eCommerce customers and third-party sellers that balances channel conflict with opportunity ensuring we are providing a consistent, best-in-class brand experience.
  • Align digital initiatives with brand, sales, and fulfilment teams to ensure cohesive execution.
  • Lead digital transformation efforts to ensure we are continually evolving along with our customers.

Channel & Revenue Growth

  • Own the eCommerce business, driving profitable growth across D2C and retail.com channels.
  • Work collaboratively with the brick and mortar sales team to avoid merchant or retailer disruption.
  • Optimize product assortment, pricing, and promotional strategies tailored to each digital channel.
  • Expand presence in emerging marketplaces and explore new digital revenue streams.
  • Collaborate with Marketing team to manage eCommerce media and technology budgets; negotiate contracts with agencies, marketplaces, and vendors.

Digital Shelf & Retail Media

  • Ensure excellence in digital shelf execution: work with the internal Marketing team  for content strategy and creation, ratings & reviews, search visibility, and availability.
  • Partner with retail media teams to maximize ROI on paid search, display, and sponsored product campaigns.
  • Monitor competitor activity and category trends to inform strategy.

Consumer Experience & Data

  • Champion a consumer-first approach to digital engagement, personalization, and loyalty.
  • Leverage first-party and third-party data to inform targeting, segmentation, and lifecycle marketing.
  • Collaborate with analytics teams to build dashboards and insights that drive decision-making.
  • Ensure compliance with data privacy regulations and MAP (Minimum Advertised Price) policies.

Technology & Operations

  • Work with broader teams for eCommerce platform selection, integrations, and enhancements (e.g., Shopify, Klarna, etc.).
  • Work closely with IT, logistics, and customer service to ensure operational excellence.
  • Drive automation and scalability across digital commerce operations.
  • Explore emerging technologies such as AI-driven personalization, social commerce, and voice commerce.
  • Leadership & Team Development
  • Lead and develop a team of eCommerce specialists; provide coaching, performance management, and career development.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, agility, and continuous improvement.

Other Duties

  • Represent Wagner at key industry events and conferences.
  • Travel as required (estimated 10–20%).
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Relationship To Others:

This role is highly cross-functional, requiring collaboration with multiple Wagner functions upstream and downstream to achieve strategic long-term goals.

Qualifications:

 

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or related field (MBA preferred) or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience as determined by the hiring manager and Human Resources.
  • 10+ years of experience in eCommerce or digital marketing, with at least 5 in consumer products goods or fast moving consumer goods.
  • Proven success managing eCommerce across multiple channels and platforms.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Deep understanding of CPG dynamics, shopper behavior, and omnichannel retail.
  • Strong analytical skills with experience in performance marketing and data-driven decision-making.
  • Expertise in digital shelf optimization, retail media, and eCommerce merchandising.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Agile mindset with a passion for innovation and continuous improvement.

Working Conditions

Work is performed in a standard or home office environment which requires occasionally lifting articles such as file boxes or heavier materials with help from others and/or lifting and carrying light objects frequently. A job in this category may require walking or standing to a significant degree or may involve sitting most of the time with long periods of computer work and phone usage. This position is hybrid, averaging 2 days per week in the office.
