Job description

WWD: Fashion Assistant
WWD is seeking a highly organized, style-savvy and editorially sharp Fashion Assistant to support the fashion team across market, editorial and on-set needs. This role will play an important part in the day-to-day operations of the department, helping to ensure seamless sample management, strong market support and timely, high-quality written fashion coverage.
WWD values in-person collaboration and team cohesion, employees work onsite 4 days a week and 1 day remotely with a focus on maintaining a vibrant and inclusive culture. Must also be flexible to work non-traditional hours.
Responsibilities
  • Oversee sample trafficking, including tracking incoming and outgoing samples, organizing inventory and ensuring timely returns to brands, agencies and showrooms.
  • Assist in maintaining the fashion closet and keeping samples, accessories and related materials organized and presentation-ready.
  • Support the Senior Accessories Market Editor with market appointments, sample pulls, research, administrative coordination and day-to-day editorial needs.
  • Provide on-set assistance for fashion shoots, helping with styling support, sample organization, steaming, dressing logistics and general production needs.
  • Write news stories, trend stories and select fashion reviews with speed, accuracy and a strong understanding of the fashion landscape.
  • Coordinate professionally with PR contacts, brands and showrooms..
  • Support coverage of market activity, industry events, runway developments and emerging fashion trends as needed.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in fashion, journalism, communications or a related field.
  • Previous internship or assistant experience in fashion editorial, styling, market or a related environment preferred.
  • Strong interest in fashion, accessories, trends and the luxury and contemporary market.
  • Excellent organizational skills and close attention to detail.
  • Writing, reporting and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work efficiently under tight deadlines.
  • A collaborative attitude, professional demeanor and willingness to contribute wherever needed.

A good faith estimate of the compensation is $27.50/hour upon hire. Factors that could be used to determine your actual salary may include your specific skills, years of experience and comparison to current employees already in this role.
