Job description

Key Responsibilities:
  • Program, troubleshoot, and optimize industrial robotic systems used in aerospace and defense manufacturing applications.
  • Develop and maintain robotic programs, automation sequences, and process logic to improve production efficiency, quality and repeatability.
  • Support integration of robotic systems including weld cells, material handling systems, vision systems, and automated assembly equipment.
  • Troubleshoot electrical, controls, communication, and robotic system issues to minimize downtime and improve equipment reliability.
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering, Production, Quality, and Maintenance teams to support automated manufacturing operations and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics wiring diagrams, PLC logic, technical drawings, and automation documentation.
  • Assist with equipment commissioning, factory acceptance testing (FATE), system startups, and validation activities.
  • Support new product introduction (NPI) activities including process development. tooling reviews, fixture integration, and automation planning.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation including work instructions, robotic backups, troubleshooting guides, and maintenance procedures.
  • Support root cause analysis and corrective action activities related to automation and robotic system performance.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience programming and supporting industrial robotic systems in a manufacturing environment.
  • Hands-on experience with Fanuc robotic systems including robot programming, troubleshooting, teach pendant operation, and system integration.
  • Strong understanding of industrial automation systems including PLCs, HMLs, sensors, servos motion controls, and industrial communication networks.
  • Experience with robotic welding, automated assembly, machine tending, or material handling applications is strongly preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, control drawings, and technical documentation.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in automated manufacturing environments.
  • Experience supporting aerospace, defense, automotive, or other high-reliability manufacturing industries is preferred.
  • Capable of managing multiple projects and priorities in a fast=-paced manufacturing environment.

Education & Certifications:
  • Bachelor's degree from an ABET-accredited university in Electrical Engineering Software Engineering, Controls Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or related engineering field required.
  • Fanuc robotics certifications, PLC programming certifications, or automation-related technical certifications are strongly preferred.
  • Additional experience with industrial automation software vision systems, or advanced robotics integration is a plus.

Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods within a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to lift and move objects up to 35 pounds.
  • Frequent bending, stooping, reaching, and manual dexterity required.
  • Ability to work around industrial machinery, robotic systems, and automated equipment safely.
  • Must be able to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including safety glasses, steel-toe boots, gloves, and hearing protection as required.
