Location: Waukesha, WI
Position Overview
We are seeking a Robotics Engineer to design, program, and deploy automated robotic systems for industrial applications. The role focuses on developing end-to-end solutions for palletizing, dispensing, and welding operations, integrating vision systems, selecting and calibrating cameras, and commissioning robotic cells using Fanuc and ABB platforms. The ideal candidate will translate production requirements into reliable, maintainable automation systems that improve throughput, quality, and safety.
Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop robotic cells and end-of-arm tooling for palletizing, dispensing, and welding applications.
  • Program industrial robots (Fanuc, ABB and similar) to implement motion sequences, tool paths, and process logic.
  • Architect and integrate machine vision systems: camera selection, lensing, lighting, calibration, and image processing workflows.
  • Develop and maintain vision-to-robot interfaces and ensure robust part detection, pose estimation, and quality inspection.
  • Collaborate with controls engineers to integrate PLCs, I/O, safety systems, and HMI for seamless cell operation.
  • Perform system commissioning, on-site installation, and start-up support; troubleshoot and optimize performance in production environments.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation: design drawings, control schematics, software listings, calibration procedures, and validation reports.
  • Work with cross-functional teams (manufacturing, quality, supply chain) to define requirements, validate solutions, and implement continuous improvement.
  • Provide training and handover to maintenance and operations teams; support long-term maintenance and upgrades.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Robotics, Mechatronics, Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience designing, programming, and commissioning industrial robotic systems, including palletizing, dispensing, or welding cells.
  • Proven experience programming Fanuc and ABB robots; familiarity with their controllers, motion programming languages, and tool/robot calibration.
  • Strong background in machine vision system architecture: camera selection, optics, illumination, calibration, and integration with robot controllers.
  • Experience with robot programming languages (e.g., Fanuc TP/TP+R, Karel, ABB RAPID) and common automation frameworks; proficiency in scripting languages (Python, C#) a plus.
  • Knowledge of welding processes (e.g., MIG, TIG, spot welding) and dispensing systems, including process control and fixturing.
  • Understanding of control systems and industrial communication protocols (Ethernet/IP, Profinet, Modbus) and PLC integration.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, ability to troubleshoot on-site, and strong communication skills for cross-functional collaboration.
