Senior Product Manager, AI Product

Crazy Maple Studio

Sunnyvale, CA โ€ข On-site

$150K - $200K/yr

Full-time

Posted 7 days ago

Job description

Crazy Maple Studio is a fast-growing company based in the Bay Area and Los Angeles, focusing on mobile gaming, reading, and streaming. We are proud to have a global team that drives our innovation and success across diverse markets.

Our flagship platform, ReelShort, is the #1 vertical streaming app in the U.S., with over 8 million DAU, delivering bite-sized episodic content that keeps viewers hooked. Other standout products include Chapters, where users shape immersive stories across drama, fantasy, and romance, and My Fiction, a platform for consuming and creating serialized romance.

We’re proud to be recognized as one of the Global Most Loved Workplaces 2025, reflecting our commitment to innovation, creativity, and an employee-first culture.

Position Overview:

ReelShort is seeking a senior product manager to define and launch a new AI companion and chat experience. Based in the Bay Area and reporting to the General Manager, you own the product strategy, the roadmap, and the specifications, working with engineering and design partners distributed across multiple time zones. This is a zero-to-one product: you are defining it, not inheriting it.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Own product strategy and roadmap for the AI chat product, from concept through launch and iteration
  • Write the PRDs — specification quality is the primary deliverable of this role, because distributed partners work from your documents rather than from hallway conversation
  • Define the AI interaction model: conversation design, persona and character systems, memory, safety and content boundaries, and the monetization surface
  • Drive execution with engineering partners across time zones, including a standing evening working window for real-time overlap
  • Own the metrics: retention, engagement depth, conversion, and unit economics per user, including inference cost
  • Run competitive and technical scanning across the global AI companion and chat market, and convert what you learn into roadmap decisions

Requirements

  • 6+ years in product management, including at least 2 years shipping AI or LLM-powered consumer products
  • Experience with consumer content or entertainment products — you understand engagement loops, not only workflow tools
  • SaaS or platform background, including familiarity with subscription and in-app purchase mechanics
  • Exceptional written specification skills. We will ask for a PRD writing sample and weigh it heavily
  • Flexibility to work across multiple time zones, and the ability to collaborate with teams across countries, functions, and backgrounds to push projects to completion. An evening working window is a standing requirement of this role, not an occasional exception
  • Experience in a global-to-local environment, managing cross-functional stakeholders across multiple time zones
  • Comfort with ambiguity and a small team — this is a zero-to-one product with no existing playbook
  • Shipped an AI companion, character chat, or roleplay product a plus
  • Additional language capability a plus, though not required
  • Background in short-form video, webtoon, interactive fiction, or gaming a plus
  • Self-directed, low ego, and willing to do the unglamorous parts of a zero-to-one product

Benefits

Crazy Maple Studio, Inc. provides equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants for employment and prohibits discrimination and harassment of any type without regard to race, color, religion, age, sex, national origin, disability status, genetics, protected veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state, or local laws.

Our target salary range for this role is between $150,000 and $200,000. Actual starting salary within the range will depend on various considerations, including: work experience, skills, specializations, and training. This role is also eligible for an annual performance bonus, competitive healthcare, and other employee benefits.
