Job description

Program Manager

Status: Exempt (salaried)

Department: Program Management (Engineering)

Position Summary

The Program Manager will manage global development projects that may vary from single enclosure design/manufacturing, new common platform architectures and/or H2 infrastructure. The position plays a key role in managing communication with various stakeholders, including internal employees, external vendors and customers, and joint ventures. The position requires close interaction with engineering, product management, sales, supply chain, quality, manufacturing, and service teams to ensure designs meet cross-functional requirements and are seamlessly launched into the business as available offerings. The program manager will maintain project schedules and regularly meet with team members to review project status, prioritize activities, drive deliverables, plan future actions and report out progress. The ideal candidate should exhibit both exceptional communication and project management skills along with a technical background. The successful candidate must be self-motivated, able to handle multiple project assignments and willing to learn and adapt within a fast-paced organization.

Core Duties and Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain multiple complex project schedules and resourcing, document launch scope and budget with product management and engineering and create product charters
  • Lead teams through the product development process including requirements, development, technical design, vendor/subcontractor work, manufacturing/assembly, validation, quality, and product release stages
  • Ability to manage customer and joint venture change in scope requests, deal with conflict, and manage risk
  • Advise company management of the program statuses and risks on a regular basis
  • Anticipate potential schedule delays and initiate plans for alternative actions as needed; able to rearrange competing priorities to ensure deadlines are met
  • Facilitate cross functional design reviews and phase gates throughout the product development process and ensure completion of deliverables, report out KPI's, progress to roadmap targets and budgets
  • Must be able to drive work independently, multi-task effectively and provide excellent follow-through
  • Represent Plug in a professional manner in all interactions, including written and verbal communications
  • Perform all other duties as assigned

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, or a related field of study
  • PMP certification strongly preferred
  • Supervisory experience strongly preferred
  • Minimum of three (3) years of project management experience in product development
  • Experience in any of the following is preferred and highly valued:
    • Hydrogen and/or fuel cells
    • Industrial gas
    • Cryogenic Industry
    • High Pressure Systems (250 Bar and up)
    • Gas processing and/or dispensing equipment
    • Oil and Gas, CNG, LNG, etc.
    • Logistics/Material Handling
  • Ability to travel occasionally, up to 10% of the time
  • Computer and software systems skills as applicable to position including but not limited to: MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Project and Outlook. Smartsheet preferred.
  • Exempt employees are expected to work as many hours as is necessary to complete their job responsibilities. This may require they work more than eight hours a day and more than five days or 40 hours per week.
