Family Owned information

What does it mean when a business is family owned?

A family-owned business is a company in which decision-making is influenced by multiple generations of a family—related by blood, marriage, or adoption—who also have significant ownership or control. These businesses can range in size from small local shops to large multinational corporations. Family members typically hold key management roles and are deeply involved in the company’s operations and long-term planning. Family-owned businesses are often valued for their strong sense of tradition, commitment to quality, and long-term stability.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a family business owner, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Family Business Owner, you need strong business management skills, financial acumen, and an understanding of your industry, often supported by a business degree or relevant experience. Familiarity with accounting software, customer relationship management (CRM) systems, and small business tools is typically valuable. Leadership, conflict resolution, and effective communication are crucial soft skills for managing both business operations and family dynamics. These competencies ensure business sustainability, foster healthy relationships, and drive long-term success in a unique family-run environment.

What unique challenges might I face when working for a family-owned business?

Working for a family-owned business often means operating in a close-knit environment where personal relationships and business decisions can be closely intertwined. You may encounter unique challenges such as navigating established family dynamics, adapting to less formalized structures, or managing change in businesses with longstanding traditions. However, these organizations often offer opportunities for meaningful impact, direct access to decision-makers, and a strong sense of company culture. It's important to be adaptable and communicate openly to thrive in this setting.

Job description

Paramount Performance and Rehab (PPR) is expanding and ready to interview qualified and motivated therapists.

We are a family owned and operated, outpatient clinic established in our community for the past 10 years. PPR is a Rehab and Sports Performance Facility, catering to both physical therapy and personal training clients with a focus on results. We have 70 feet of turf, the best equipment around, a team oriented environment, and plenty of parking! We need to hire our next Team Member and continue to grow our presence.

This is a great opportunity for newly graduating therapists who want to work in a sports orientated outpatient clinic. Experienced therapists welcome too! You will be joining our close knit group.

PPR is unlike the dreaded Corporate Run, Burnout PT clinics where patients do not see results and continuing education is not a priority.  PPR is a hands on, aggressive stye rehab center focusing on stellar client results, and the continuous access to further learning.  We specialize in athletic/sports injuries and achieving higher performance levels. We also work with our community members to get them back to their lives quickly, and functioning better than they were before. It is important to us to remain connected to the community and offer our expertise in a range of services.

We want to add to our energetic and hardworking team, a driven therapist ready to make real changes in our clients’ lives.

The therapist would have schedule options, a supportive administration team, access to our extensive equipment, easy to use EMR software. We are located in a high traffic part of Newton with many local restaurants and shops.

PPR offers competitive salary, medical benefits, simple IRA with company match, licensing reimbursements, continuing education, and plenty of support and guidance to grow as a therapist. As a team member, you have full access to our facility and are encouraged to use our space for your own fitness goals.

We want a PT who embraces the team mentality of PPR, wants to put their hard earned education to work, and believes in expanding their knowledge and skills.
